i use olive oil instead of veggie oil for everything but deep frying (it gets too smoky when it gets hot) and baking - don't think it would be too good for baking anyway, especially if it is a sweet dish. might be okay in savory baking tho.....
Thanks Velveeta...
Was curious mostly, means I gotta go to the store though as I only have Extra Light Olive Oil for Sauteing and Baking here at home. Gotta get eggs anyways for the triple chocolate brownies...and was wondering if there was a way to make them...healthier. Not to mention keeping fewer things in the cupboard.
3xchoco brownies and you want healthier??????
ummmmm - don't eat them, i think....... :p
I know it probably seems like an oxymoron...healthy(ier) brownies...
I'll be adding nuts to the recipe, haven't decided yet...walnuts or pecans...
I'll be using cholesterol-free eggs...
and as to the oil...
I don't eat sea food of any kind...and if I remember correctly, omega-3 is in olive oil. Besides that, there are plenty other good things about olive oil vs other oils.
I also have olive oil on hand and as I said, would be nice not to have to add another bottle of stuff to the cabinet. I bake so infrequently anymore (Yeah, so I'm lazy and like things simple and easy), I routinely have to buy new stuff because what I had...expired.
Don't forget, chocolate is quite healthy too!
(google on chocolate for example http://www.webmd.com/diet/news/20030...lthy-chocolate)
The problem with using olive oil could be it's not neutral enough. I don't think you want your brownies taste olive oily.
