Thread: Seemingly abnormal damage types

  1. #1

    Default Seemingly abnormal damage types

I hereby create the official thread for posting occurances of damage types you think are incorrect. Be sure to clearly specify the spell, ability, and/or monster involved.

This is NOT a discussion thread for anything to do with wards, resistances, or the damage type system in general. Please keep this as a simple reporting tool.

Dragons Tail whip does slash damage. I am not sure if this is how it is suppose to be. But I would think a tail whip that stuns should do crush.

Actually, these aren't damage type reporting errors, but they just came about with this patch.

When Armor Shreds, Primal Vengeance land on a target, there is no longer any feedback. There used to be a message "You hit Marble Golem with Armor Shreds", etc. The feedback isn't referencing damage done, but it's necessary feedback. Armor shreds is nigh worthless when you dont know that it's landed.

I suspect there is missing feedback now on all sorts of other things as well.

Magic Crush did slash damage, not sure if this was because of the type of weapon i had (Bastard Sword).

Bow attack with lighnting arrows and flame attack V do nature damage (I've reported this numerous times/methods and its gone unfixed).

All the other elemental attack buffs that I can cast (I can't cast energy II-V) change the damage type to the spell augmentation type

I don't have the ability to try other arrow types to see if flame attack V fails to change damage type for that as well.

Yew Treants damage listed as Crush.

"Golem Crush" attack listed as Slash.

    side note:

it's going to be difficult for us to determine data entry errors
in some cases, unless it is readily apparent what the correct
damage type is supposed to be in the first place...

Yew Treants (in fact, all Treants) doing crush damage is as designed.

that's what I mean about it needing to be readily apparent
if we are to catch errors. I would have though Treants, with
their sharp branches and swiping attacks, would have done
Slash damage... which is apparently not the case.

If it is obvious, report it. If not, don't worry about it.

As far as the trees, is it flimsy branches slashing? Or large branches smashing? Could be taken either way.

    1. Marrow Guards hit with Piercing Blight for x Spirit Damage?

    2. No feedback on the effect of Corrosive Rain anymore. :-/

The marrow was hitting for spirit because it had ethereal blade on, which apparantly makes damage ethereal and changes the type to spirit, instead of just making it ethereal.

Normal it'd hit you with piercing blight for slash damage. [:P]

Killing the "Giant Sand Beetle" outside Kion on the beach I saw that sometimes the message showed a hit after the death message.
Life Strike I shows heal eff. first and damage second - should it not be the other way around?
