Justa sat in his rocking chair on the porch of his woodworking shop watching the maple treants pass on the hill above him.
Even though the dragons of Istaria had terms like "ancient" I was as old as many of them, and could remember the stories of when they opened their eyes to find the world they lived in blessed them with immortality.
Though immortal, I still aged, and with the age came wisdom. Wisdom to impart to the younger, less experienced inhabitants of the world.

I recounted the days when I found a half hatched dragon and raised it like a pet. After the great war and the merge to an alternate land that somewhat resembled our own, Flatspin and I settled in Sanctuary Bay. He would watch over my plot while I went out and gathered wood.

One day a dragon I had known assisted me in a quest for the epic dark cyclone ability. She visited my plot and found I had been raising a dragon. Image was shocked and decided to raise him and teach him what being a dragon really meant, and not the pet of a saris. He left my plot, only to return when he was scrounging for hoard I had picked up from my battles. A quick 'thank you' and 'goodbye' and he was gone again.

He soars the skies with his ancient brethren, but comes by to visit and bring me things that he has been finding (and I end up having to resupport my structures every time he lands on top of them.)

So here I sit, enjoying the morning sun peering up over the hillsides, and on every wisp of wind, the breeze of change is in the air. Already, locals are speaking of some buffet in Dalimond being built. What they have is anyone's guess. The fees to the majestrate for keeping my property here on Istaria are in debate, and not having been asked to pay for some time has made me complacent.

"Nothing comes for free." I thought, taking another bite of bass I had cooked for lunch. And then the suprise came as several of the gifted, dragon and bi-ped alike, came by to wish me well, and brought a cake with singing gnomes. I gathered up all of the breath I could and blew out the candles.

Most everyone probably knew what I was wishing for... only time will tell if the wish comes true.
