I mentioned in March's Developer's Desk that we were planning to launch a monthly newspaper/newsletter that contains player-created content, and had said more information would be forthcoming later that week. As weeks sometimes do, that week moved quickly on me. So while this news is a little later than originally planned, here it is.

Key aspects of The Chronicles:
1) The Chronicles e-paper will be published monthly in the middle of each month.
2) The e-paper will be published on our community website, as well as being featured in a special email to all currently subscribed players.
3) All content will be player submitted articles - so if you've ever wanted to make use of those journalism courses you took years ago, now's your chance
4) Members of the Virtrium design team will be editing for minor grammar and spelling - but please, oh please, review and spell check before submitting. We will bounce it back to you if there's major trouble. If English is not your first language, include a note at the top and we'll promise to be more considerate and helpful with edits.

Our goal is to make this an e-paper by the Gifted and for the Gifted. The content must follow our usual Rules of Conduct for what is acceptable, but beyond that what you choose to submit is limited only by your imagination. The only other restriction is that all submissions must come from an active character in the world of Istaria in order to be published. Anonymously submitted material will only be used at the discretion of the current editor of the newspaper. Links to off-site websites will not be allowed. The sole exception to this rule are videos posted on the YouTube site that can be previewed and approved by the editor.

Images that can be posted in our Image Gallery may be used in articles or features. You may submit your image to a special section of the regular Image Gallery. The image will not appear immediately, as images in this section require a moderator's approval. This will allow us to share the images only when the issue of The Chronicles itself is published. To upload your image follow the directions found here: Image Gallery under Gallery Options. When you upload the image to the gallery, please include the title of the article you're submitting in the "Title" field, your character's name in the "Name" field, and the email address you submitted the article from in the email field. The email address will not appear on the website, it is only for our own internal verification. If you would like to include a description of the image in the Description field, please feel free to. But the other fields are required for us to be able to connect the image to the article. When you submit your article, please indicate in the text that you have uploaded an image to the gallery and mark where you want that image to appear in the article. We'll take care of the formatting for you. If you have more than one image for your article, simply indicate to us how you denoted the different images and where they should appear within the article itself.

To submit an article for the next edition of The Chronicles, send an email to [email protected]. Please include the text of your submission in the email itself. Attachments will not be accepted. To submit an image to use with your article, upload the image to our Image Gallery under the The Chronicles portion of the gallery Image Gallery.

Until Next Time,
Amarie Ancalimon and the Virtrium Team
