I don't think there are enough adjectives in the english language to properly capture just how long this quest is.

    The quest itself is nice.
But the spell reward sucks really really bad... to be gentle.

My suspicion is a combination of:
    -Ancient requirement (unless that changed)
-Questgiver off the beaten path, and nothing pointing that way to tip you off
    -REALLY long questline
-Requires you either know or are a HIGH 90s+ Lairshaper for one of the quest steps
-The reward mostly blows. I've never been able to see the spell effect (prolly a bug on my end); the mobs I've tried it on have almost always either dodged or soaked 99% of the damage; rather long cast time; as I recall rather high Primal requirement (which turns a lot of folk off). I was so excited when I got the spell having read the spell flavor and all the narrative buildup to it. I have NEVER been able to kill a critter with it. Ever. Even mostly dead ones. I think I might have finally kicked it off my hotkey list for something more useful.

    Just my suspicions.

I'll take a look at both the spell itself and creating a "tie-in" to the lair.
