I think dragons learn about that when they do their Rite of Passage to become an adult.

Aye, they do, but there is no harm in wanting to know more about your world before hand. This should get you started hatchling, and it's one of my favourite tales.

The story tells you of the destruction of the Sleeper, but it does leave out some important details about it. Most important of those is that the Sleeper plays some role in allowing dragons to ascend; how exactly is not clear, but even in the story, it is mentioned that dragons feel a spiritual connection to it. Moreover, the statue does talk in the later Ancient Rite, with an ancient dialect. It is likely that the Sleeper was alive at some point and may in fact still be.

The story tells nothing of Drulkar, so I'll fill in some basic information on him here.

Drulkar is the God of Fire and First Dragon. When the Prime was in its infancy, Drulkar came to it and brought his children of flame with him. But the Prime was a different place than the Realm of Fire, and here, fire did not burn eternally. So Drulkar wrapped himself in the Prime and became the First Dragon, and he directed his children to do the same. Though he lived with the new dragons for some time, he eventually grew tired of their pettiness and returned back to the Realm of Fire, leaving behind the Gate of Embers for his children to return to him one day.

Today, most dragons do not have a spiritual connection with Drulkar. They are thankful for his guidance in their creation, but they do not devoutly worship either.
