Thread: Talk to the Team: Consignment Merchants

If I have to pick just one I pick two weeks. Two avoids clutter on vendors and fights lag.

But the better option is options. Put in all the above if possible and let the saler pick how long they wish the iteam/s to be up for sale.

Though I also belive there should be a time limit and never Unlimited or till end of sub. It will in the end just make to much lag. Fight the lag limit it to no longer then 90 days.

I would go with until the end of their sub. The purpose of the 'item' reset timer was not to clutter things up. Yet sometimes it takes a LONG , LONG TIME.

I personally have had cases in games where I have put items up for a year, and then finally sold it. You never know...

    A NO for unlimited here.

My vote is for the 4 week option.

My vote is for it to stay the way it is at 2 weeks. I could live with 4 weeks, but unlimited shouldn't even be an option, IMO.

I say give the 2 week and 4 week option to the seller (If possible).

If not possible, I'd say switch it up to 4 weeks. Clearly the current 2 weeks isn't enough for a majority of posters and pepole are frustrating having to relist hundreds or more items across multiple connies and such.

I was originally for "unlimited" but the other points made here are good ones - even with limitations to how many items you put on a connie you would still end up with piles of things forever unwanted clogging up people trying to search.

And you would also end up with the problem of pepole using their Connie as a 2ndary Vault. Sure, now they default into their vault (which should be!) but it still means if their vault is full they can't place anything more IN or move things around. Whereas if the COnnie was unlimited it would become 2ndary storage for people so that the could keep their vault useable (place things in and out as they want) and just use the Connie for "other storage" forever (other games people do this with their version by just pricing it too high and absorbing the deposit cost). Not good for searching/lag/database stuff I'm sure.

My vote would be to keep it as is, or extend no longer than 4 weeks. No time limit could cause many problems with the economy.

4 weeks please for world consigners.

    Unlimited for plots and taverns.

Hmmm, I would vote for 4 weeks, and the option of the item to go to the pawnys if it did not sell sounds nice, if it possible

    Id say 4 weeks.

Simply because the "unlimited" option posted above is fake. Virtrium knows they cant realize that knowing their database design..

This is actually not an easy question; especially if the feedback results in just ONE time limit (or lack thereof). I, personally, do a fair amount of "supplying". I put things on the consigners for other people to buy. Having things be returned to me after a set amount of time allows me to consolidate the things that don't sell, and relist them. Or even change up the things I'm offering; since I do only have a certain amount of consignment slots avaliable. By the same token, a limitless listing will allow for more people to look for the item.

The feature I'm actually most interested in wasn't addressed; either in the "is about" or "is not about". I think the thing that really limits the players is the amount of travel it takes to search for what they're looking for. I feel if the consigners were linked game-wide, or even between specific zones, time limit and consignment slots avaliable would be much less of an issue.

This is somthing that I as a buyer would love to see as well, maybe linked the same way they are linking the portal system.

I like four weeks. Unlimited basically reminds me of what happened back when we had unlimited space in vaults.

This. Honestly I can't really vote. I would love to see a button that chooses between the three. Food for example should be until sub lapses or is taken off as there is a relative guarantee that it will be sold. Things like forms and techs I'd put up for less time or more time depending on whether or not they sell. Armor I'd keep up forever. Someone will want it eventually.

If I have to choose one time limit, I'd want four week. I'd much rather have the connies let us choose a few different time limits.

Yeah the clogging would get bad. It already can take about 20 seconds for the item list to load. I know when it goes over 1000 there gets a point where not all actually listed items are visible.. seen this happen in new trismus before. Too many items and your stuff will not show in the main list. But if you filter the list first, then they show up.

In fact, I would change my vote to "leave it at 2 weeks", because a clogged up connie would be the worst eventual outcome of a supposedly helpful change. If something falls to vault, re-list it. I have to do this about once every 2 months... it's not a deal-killer.

Falling to vault is a good way to tell people they are charging too much.. Often theres hoard listed at 1:1 price, and obviously it's not gonna sell at that. So you would end up clogging the connies with overpriced stuff that will never sell... I just don't see how this is a good idea...

    4 weeks here.

    NO on Unlimited for all.

I'd love to see an option of "Display Item" for 1 item
though, to help advertise specialist skills. This item would remain
on Consigners until removed/replaced by Seller.

    Armorers - Display Armor piece
Tinkerers - Display Cargo Disk or Gear.
    Weaponsmiths - Display one Weapon.
    etc...

While I support extending the sell time to 4 weeks, I still think it makes more sense to shift some of the buying and selling to the pawnbrokers, at least for forms and techs.

A big part of the database issue is having separate lines for each person selling and each price. Moving them to the pawnbroker cuts that to one line per item - period. It could even be a separate form/tech pawnbroker who pays less and charges more - letting older players "pass on" the forms, while still maintaining the "value" of the forms.

And as long as we're wishing for ponies. I'd love to see the ability to group items as 'sets' ('T3 Cargo Armor', 'T5 Focus Jewelry', etc).

Default an unlimited time period, so long as the person keeps a subscription

Option 3: an unlimited time period, so long as the person keeps a subscription

    Reasons:

    1) Gives the item longer to become the "Item this person desperately needs right at this moment.".

    2) Allows me to get the item I desperately need at this very moment from the Consignment.

    3) Allows newer players to work up the cash for an item and reach the proper level to use it. Thus giving a better chance at buying a higher priced item that I will not spend wads of coin trying to consign repeatedly.

    4) Allows consumables to be consumed and thus more to be wanted and purchased.
