Thread: Lootable on What

    Question Lootable on What

I am trying to figure out the loot and where to find what. I understand that the undead and semi-human drop hoard items, but what about forms and techs? Who drops what?

The forms & techs that are sold by NPCs, do they still drop from mobs too? Or have they been removed from the drop list?

The only thing I know and remember in some patch notes some time ago is that if an NPC has it whether for sale or by quest then it is not in the mob loot tables. (There might be an exception if the mob in question is part of the quest, but not sure)

Aaelefein - Foremost a Grand Master Crafter, also a Paladin/Healer/Druid/Mage/Spiritist
    Treyvan - Adult Dragon 100A/100DC/100LS/95CS
Skandrannon - Growing and Expert Dragon Crafter

Correct, if an item is for sale on a NPC of any type then it will not drop as loot.

A quick guide for what drops what (in a general sense):

Tech Comps drop from Animals, Insects, Elementals.
Undead and Semi-Intelligents can drop formulas and techs and hoardables.
Aegis-Constructs and Aegis-Animates tend to drop a mixture that includes crystals and hoardables.
    Chests drop a full range.

The "upper" half of a Tier gets a chance to drop rare items (that includes formulas, techs, crystals) while the "lower" half will most often not drop them. Boss (named) mobs always have a chance of rare items.

^ Reiterating on what Amon said (with his own words) in greater detail:

Formulas are considered rare loot, however, so you will only get them from monsters in the "upper-half" of a Tier (so level 11-20 for T1, 31-40 for T2, etc). Also, formulas are split between those in the "lower-half" of the Skill range and those in the "upper-half". So, for example, Formulas that can be scribed by players that are generally T1 will be on T1 monsters, while those which generally required players to be T2 will drop from T2 monsters. Hope that makes sense.

Oooooh, that explains SO much! We camped an undead spot for 4 hours the other night. We got lots of hoard, but no forms or techs because they were level 67 to 69. Then last night I tried just a few level 70 to 73 werewolves and got hoard, forms & techs! thank you so much for helping us understand it. It makes a lot more sence now.

Any chance we can get this specific information Stickyed somewhere prominently and even better, tutorialed as well so that people know? Perhaps with an expanded explanation of what a "Undead and Semi-Intelligents" and "Aegis-Constructs and Aegis-Animates" are, as these descriptions tend to generate confusion. This is VERY important, but I don't think it's explained anywhere other than some buried threads/patch notes.
