I got the book from deadlands near Parsinia and finished the quest and got a Strange Aura buff with no timer on it. Kendra wouldn't offer continuation. Is there something I need to do with that Strange Aura now?

That's all you can do, the rest of the quest line isn't coming until the T3 revamp occurs later this year.

The aura is just there so that you can loot the book. More of the quest series, after the Ancient Journal quest will be released with the T3 revamp.
