Getting a new computer - some questions

And moving everything from my old hard drive to the new one, except I'm going to reinstall all the games.

If I save the prefs/resources/etc files and copy/paste them into the new computer where Istaria is installed via external drive, will they still work? Most times when I've tried to copy/paste a UI so I could switch things around easily, the buttons showed up - but all of them were grey and stayed Unavailable no matter what I did. I ended up having to redo my entire hotkey bar on a couple of alts a couple of times and I 'd rather not repeat the experience if possible.

If it won't work, is there anything I can do to save my prefs and such?

Does anyone who has done such a thing before have anything they think I should know?

I back up the prefs\server_char folder and prefs folders. When I reinstall the game after a format, I just copy the prefs folder or prefs\server_char folders over. It should all work.

Afterwards I'll throw in my resource_override\ and then be good to go.

So...got me a new one on the way too (tax refunds are so nice), but the question is...

Does Istaria run on Win 8.1 or will I have to keep running it on the older PC?

Old: Sony Vaio Laptop, i7 @ 1.6Ghz w/ 8 GB Ram, 1gb NVidia, and 5400rpm 500GB HD

vs.

New: HP Envy Phoenix 810-170st i7 @ 3.7Ghz w/ 16GB DDR3 + 4GB nVidia GT640 and 7200rpm 3TB SATA HD

March 10th never looked so far away as it does now!!!!

I am running Istaria on Windows 8.1 just fine.
