Bye Bye Gold Rage, Silver Strike and Ravage. Nerfed!
I'm starting to believe that Tulga simply want every dragons to be Lunus...
You want to do spells, then say Good Bye to the dragons best abilities:
Gold Rage, Ravage and Silver Strike.
Since those 3 abilties have been modified to use Tooth and Claws, they miss a lot more than before.
I went to hunt spiders after the patch. Before, I used to hit 75% of the time, Gold Rage being the one missing the most. Now, I miss 90% of the time.
Those abilities are now completly USELESS. Unless, of course, you choose to be a Lunus and follow the Lunus way, by putting EVERY training points you can into Tooth and Claws.
So, if I get it right, you have to put ALL the points you can in Primals to be able to use your spells, and now you have to put ALL of the other half into Tooth and Claw....
Ok. Why not remove the Strength, Health, Evasion, etc skills from the Training Points while we're at it.
Giving us TnC should HELP us hit, not penalize us. Before the patch, I was able to hit. Not anymore. There is a problem there. ANd I hope it get fixed soon. Or at least, but those skill on Tooth and Claw AND Primal. The skill favorize Tooth and Claw way to much. Balance please.
Now, I'll try to get some fun out adventuring, if I don't get too depressed and give up from the constant
Your Gold Rage misses.
Your Gold Rage misses.
Your Silver Strike misses.
Your Silver Strike misses.
Your Silver Strike misses.
Your Ravage misses.
Your Ravage misses.
Your Ravage misses.
Your Ravage misses.
that I am now getting,

Re: Bye Bye Gold Rage, Silver Strike and Ravage. Nerfed!
that is outrageous! gold rage and silver strike should never miss...this doesnt even have a good poin in doing so...i guess they need to be unfixed or unerfed or something...

Re: Bye Bye Gold Rage, Silver Strike and Ravage. Nerfed!
works better than previously for me

Re: Bye Bye Gold Rage, Silver Strike and Ravage. Nerfed!
Hmm, dragons used to almost never miss spiders??? Shoot, as a 100 Chaos Warrior with almost 1100 2-handed crush I've always missed Shadow Spiders (and above) at least 70% of the time! I thought that made up for the puny damage they do to me . . . .

Sunday, I was getting in average 2-3 hits with Ravage, 1-2 hit with Silver Strike and 1 hit with Gold rage. Now i'm getting 0-0-0. While it wasn't perfect, it was enough for me to get out of a situation, or weaken the monster a bit.
If I remember correctly, Silver Strike was already assigned with TnC. Yet, with today's patch, it miss even more now. There's something broken somewhere. The only one that I heard not having issues where those who put EVERY training points into TnC.
If Gold Rage and Silver Strike were using Primal, then it would be probably be more fair.
How can GR debuff a monster if it isn't through primal?
Right now, what I could kill with the help of my claws abilties are killing me. So much for an 'improvement'. A tiny bit of damage output, for an HUGE lose in accuracy.

Re: Bye Bye Gold Rage, Silver Strike and Ravage. Nerfed!
actually makin it TnC shouldnt help it should make use what it was suppose to use. if u decided to not put points into TC thats not design flaw thats yer decision. yes helian currently have no comparable primal based damage ability (i do hope we see 1 one day)"how can GR debuff a monster if it isnt primal" well how does staggering howl debuff (slow) then? TnC..
if u think that rage and ss should be usin primal to make it more fair, why arent our spells usin TnC to make that fair?because thats NOT the way it works..
...but there are things u can do with yer spells that a lunus cant do as easily..see link. this is 1 pull on WD blights solo no hord attks used...think i only used ravage to drop a repop here for melee hits.

on a side note i am 1 of those who went 50/50 with primal and TnC, so if u went all caster this should be cake for u.

Uh no. Dragon accuracy against spiders is awful. With T3 tooth and claw tech on 9 of my scales and zero points in tooth and claw, I found that as a level 100 dragon I missed a level 91 spider 90% of the time.
In response to this experience I dumped max possible training points into tooth and claw skill and subsequently replaced my T3 teched scales with scales teched wtih T5 tooth and claw. With these scales on and dragon buffs up I get 1481 tooth and claw skill which is not far off the max possible a dragon can get. This is a significant improvement but I still miss close to 50% of my melee attacks against level 80-100 spiders on the satyr isles.

*nods* That sounds much closer to my personal experience with the spideys, Fireclaw. What really puzzled me was the original poster's statement that:
Quote:
I went to hunt spiders after the patch. Before, I used to hit 75% of the time, Gold Rage being the one missing the most. Now, I miss 90% of the time.
And hence his conclusion that these dragon abilities had somehow been stealth-nerfed. He's the only player of any race or class that I've ever heard of achieving 75% hit ratio on the higher level spideys.
*shrugs*

Re: Bye Bye Gold Rage, Silver Strike and Ravage. Nerfed!
testing on spiders or wolves is dubious at best those creatures have more evasion than 2 level 100 monks...
-
Re: Bye Bye Gold Rage, Silver Strike and Ravage. Nerfed!
Ihave noticed my ravage and gold rage hit a bit more than they used to for about the same amount of damage. I didn't go to test on spiders though because I can rarely hit a spider with ANY skill, let alone those 2 skills.

Re: Bye Bye Gold Rage, Silver Strike and Ravage. Nerfed!
:o
My rages and strikes hit more often than before, but you have to remember that you shouldnt guage you combat prowess off one kind of mob, or worse yet, against a mob where they have high evasions...

Re: Bye Bye Gold Rage, Silver Strike and Ravage. Nerfed!
Still eagerly awaiting for my shard to come up with those updates, I think I'll do this:
- go to mithril golems and try there. Why? Because I live there [:P]
- go to ice beetles and try there. The first swipe should not be subject to harden shell and should give an idea of a non much evading, average mob damage.
- go to ogres or crimson scourge. They are not even armored and will show the full damage.
About spiders and some few other critters: me and others noticed that the firstattacks on themoften hit. After a while (like some "harden shell due to low hp") they fire up some hidden "godly evasion" ability and you stop hitting them.
On average I was lucky to get them at all during such a period.
And I can confirm that both my dragon and my biped alt miss more or less the same.

Re: Bye Bye Gold Rage, Silver Strike and Ravage. Nerfed!
this thread should be trashed the abilities were made better not worse.
Spiked scales does more damage
instant heal heals for more
gold rage hits more often
silver strike hits more often
Try fighting another npc maybe the spiders were accidently bugged or it's just the fact that they have insane evade skills
The last thing we need to do is complain when they actually help out our damage potential

Re: Bye Bye Gold Rage, Silver Strike and Ravage. Nerfed!
Before, GR, Spiked Scales, and Ravage were not associated with a skill. This is the sameas me picking up aMaul (I have no 2hc skill) and trying to hit mobs based entirely on my dexterity. It does work, but not well. NOW though, those 3 abilities are associated with Tooth & Claw. This means you are getting the %hit(dex) + %hit(T&C). This should increase your hit-to-miss ratio by quite a bit.
Everyone misses against spiders. I miss about 75%+ of the time against shadow spiders (The level 60-70 ones). This is with 1/3 of my training points dumped into my weapon skill (9/turn normally) + my armor fully teched with weapon skill (xbow in this case) and some dex. I also dumped some TP into dex.

Re: Bye Bye Gold Rage, Silver Strike and Ravage. Nerfed!
...spiders hit u with a nasty dex nerf I've noticed - that's when u start hitting air...
-
Re: Bye Bye Gold Rage, Silver Strike and Ravage. Nerfed!
I've noticed an increase in hitting with Silver STrike and Gold rage...
And, most importantly as a mainly Primal User... Wow, I love the increase to Spiked Scales! ::purrs:: I can fight quite a bit more effectively now.
Thank you TulgAE very much. :)

Re: Bye Bye Gold Rage, Silver Strike and Ravage. Nerfed!
Here is what ive noticed, ive been fighting pygmies and ogres lately for tech farming and cash farming.
before
Miss rate 50%+
hit rate 0-50%
Now
Miss rate 0-20%
Hit rate 80-100%
Definate improvement. 50% primal 50% tnc with tnc teched or primal teched scales, depending on the situation.
same against mithril golems, lvl 60 to 80 pygmies and ogres and the nahutak ogres and pygmies +- 10%
and with spiked scales going off of primal, wohoo :)
Btw, im a helian speced to be above average in both primal combat and claw to flesh combat. Im not overly great in either but i can switch between casting high damage tripple teched spells to fast hard swipes with my claws when the situations change, ie im fighting one mob and im using my tnc scales for high claw damage when i get agroed by 4 more lvl 60's, switch to my primal power focus scales at the flip of a hotkey and start AoEing the place.
Dragons are not specialists, they are good in just about everything IF you have the scales to back it up and the talents in the right spot. Just like a Lunus with 50% tnc 50% health would be horrid at casting teched primal spells, a primal power health helian will be horrid at tnc based attacks, the way it should be. The key, Dragonaide is the right balance between them, then you will be able to take on any mob in any situation at least in one on one combat.
Ok im ranting/raving time to get to work. Later all and may Drulkar grant your ancient status![H]

Biped aren't specialist neither. Take a biped, give him 2-3 set of armor teched with the right techs, and it can move from one job to another.
I wouldn't mind being poor at TnC IF I had the equivalent ability to compensate.
Remove Gold Rage, Silver Strike and Ravage, and what is left for a Primal Dragon? Nothing.
All the powerful abilities are assigned to TnC, and this include All the hoard abilities.
This leave an Helian or a spellcaster with NO ability whatsoever. Now we got Spiked Scale, that's all. And it's not even an attack and it depend on the monster attacking you. What does it make it? A Tank Mage?
With the following 'nerf' (yes, for me it's a nerf), you no longer have a choice into where put your TP. It's all TnC. Otherwise, you'll be wasting your hoard.

Re: Bye Bye Gold Rage, Silver Strike and Ravage. Nerfed!
If you were hitting spiders at 75% accuracy, then please let me know what your spec is. I opened up a case about those pesky spiders a while back. I missed a lvl 80-85 purple spider 50-75% of the time. That was with about 800 dex and a buffed 1400 t&c. To grant some hope, I got this response from support:
"We do believe the spider evasion is currently too high, and we are still looking into changing that so it is more balanced. However, I do not know what the ETA is on that, or exactly what kind of changes will be made. I ask that you please bear with us, and we will get this matter resolved soon. Thanks, and have a great weekend!

As to gold rage and ravage (silver strike was always linked to t&c, as stated by Amon). I hit more often wtih them. Typically I could expect gold rage and ravage to miss one or more hits.
After yesterdays patch I visited the fire pygmies/ogres. I used fire pygs cause my miss rate on ravage and gold rage was horrendous (especially them being 20 levels lower than me). Normally, my regular claw swipes would hit 80-90% of the time, but ravage and gold rage would miss one or more swipes 50-6% of the time. After the patch, and about 50-60 fire pygmies later, I missed one gold rage swipe and one ravage swipe. Tonight I'll play with tier V beasties.
Primal Instant Heal is healing me from 480-520 per click. Spiked Scales was doing 100-120 damage against fire pygs. Then I fought some obsidian golems and was doing 200 damage with spiked scales.
I think overall its safed to say this dragon fix gave us a bit of a combat buff.
Now I want my ARoP and primal based hoard attacks :)

Re: Bye Bye Gold Rage, Silver Strike and Ravage. Nerfed!
First of all, I have noticed an improvement with Gold rage and Ravage. Secondly, it makes absolutely no sense for them to be primal based as they are melee attacks.
Primal users got a very nice boost to spiked scales.
There really is absolutely NO reason to complain about this change, muchless call it a nerf.
I do feel that gold rage should be an automatic hit considering its cost though.
