Whenever the login window asks for my computer specs, I always update in case it's useful, however I keep waiting for it to get my operating system correctly identified .. it always updates my system as having 'WINDOWS XP', but I have always been running 'WINDOWS 7' [64 bit version] ..I'm sure you are aware of this, and maybe it's because ISTARIA doesn't recognise 64 bit systems..I don't know, but I thought I'd mention it in case.
Apologies if this is repeating a previous post.
Perhaps you are running in compatibility mode for windows xp?

Right-click on the shortcut for the launcher, select the compatibility tab, clear the checkbox for Windows XP compatibility. It may be the case that on some computers running Istaria in compatibility mode may help performance but generally the game should run fine without compatibility enabled.
Thx Knossos and Tz, you were absolutely right..I was running in 'Win XP' Compatibility mode..no idea why, I changed, I remember, compatibility when using Corel 9 [Vector Graphics' proggie], but never intentionally touched Istaria ..next time the spec request comes, I'm sure it'll update ..hmmmm, maybe I'll stop crashing so much ../grin
