Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
I create a new thread for this version of our MOD.
We have added 3 new sound emotes: swat, headbutt and rockout/rockoutindralk. The last one is more humoristic than role-play, and we are waiting for your feedback to know if you like it... or not.
As usual, timings are calculated from second use of the emote (first is often broken, blame the client).
Other fixes/changes have been done. You will find all details in the changelog below:
v1.8 "Hurricane" (November 16, 2007)
============================
- added a new sound to headbutt emote for Hatchling, Adult and Ancient Dragons. The more the Dragon has aged, the more the sound is loud and audible far [Firebrand]
- added a new sound to swat emote for Hatchling, Adult and Ancient Dragons. The more the Dragon has aged, the more the sound is loud and audible far [Firebrand]
- added a new sound to rockout and rockoutindralk emotes. Please note this sound is more designed to be funny than role-play [Zexoin and Firebrand]
- Ancient Dragons now have 2 different sounds, playing randomly, for the hiss emote as Adult Dragons already had. Hatchling Dragons have only one sound by design [Firebrand]
- significantly increased sound radius for the standandroar emote for Adult and Ancient Dragons. Ancient Dragons' roar can been heared further than Adult Dragons' one by design [Firebrand]
- increased sound radius for the growl/growlnaka emotes for Adult and Ancient Dragons. Ancient Dragons' growl can been heared further than Adult Dragons' one by design [Firebrand]
- officially added Firebrand as co-author of this MOD [Zexoin]
Files are available on this website. This is a permanent link: if the MOD is updated, the link will always have the latest version:
=> http://dragonnoir.planetemu.net/inde...ption&dl_id=45
Go to the bottom of the page then click on "Télécharger ce fichier" (that means "Download this file") button.

A pop up will be displayed:
- "Lien 1" will lead you to the version with installer and will start automatically if you don't select any link.
- "Lien 2" will lead you to the version without installer.

Have fun with our MOD, we are waiting for your feedback. :)

do I have to uninstall the current version I have? Or can I just download it and it'll replace on its own

It _should_ replace the previous files, but I think it's better if you remove them first

Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
I am glad the people who write mods are starting to rekindle the "spirit" of the game by adding things to it.
Every MMORPG has people that for the love of the game, makes mods/hacks to the game so that you can enjoy it further.
Thanks Zexoin and Firebrand for your work.

The installer will overwrite all the old files and add the new ones itself. And it should work without any other action from you. Just install the MOD in the Horizons root folder (the installer should find it automatically).
However, if you still have problems with your previous pack (or new one), you should better uninstall it properly and clean your resources_override folder from the old files you may have left here and there.
Please let us know if it works properly.
Thank you Justa. :o

Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
It works for me, I deleted the older files anyways, but I think its only my computer doing this, but I have to 'warm up' the sounds first, if I don't do /standandroar for awhile and I do it, it will be late, but if I do it again it will be fine, and if I try to do a /hiss it will be late, but if I do it again it will be fine.
But, as I said, this is probably just my faulty computer doing this :P
-
Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
Good if you were able to make it works. :) And yes, unfortunately first use of many emotes in nearly always broken; as you said a "warm up" is needed.
-
Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
This mod is one of my three "must have" mods. Thanks so much for this, you guys did a great job! :D :D :D

Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
I uploaded a new version of our MOD. Not much with it, it's not v1.9. ;)
The only modification is listed below:
v1.8.1 (March 08, 2008)
==================
- growl sound for Ancient Dragons is now different from the Adult Dragon one to seem more "Ancient" [Firebrand]
Files will be now available on this website:
=> http://dragonnoir.planetemu.net/inde...ption&dl_id=45
Go at the bottom of the page and click on "Télécharger ce fichier" (that means "Download this file") button. A pop up will be displayed:
- "Lien 1" will lead you to the version with installer and will start autmatically if you don't select any link.
- "Lien 2" will lead you to the version without installer.
Have fun! :)
-
Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
does this version also fix the different emotes between those that have the mod and those that don't? I'm still roaring on the computer with the mod and sneezing with the one without...
-
Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
Any player customizations like this are always client side, so if you don't have the mod installed on the computer, you'll have the official (default) whatever being used, be it emote, hotkey or map type mod.
-
Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
Shian: this has been fixed with v1.6. So the problem should vanish with this version.
If not, maybe you have some old files they have stayed somewhere; unstall the pack and check manually all files involved in this MOD and delete them: they are listed in the Read Me.
Velea: Shian is right, with earlier versions a /sneeze from someone who had the pack was doing a /hiss (or something like that) for someone who hadn't. That is just because I changed for my conveniance the order of the emotes in a list of the .def files. That is weird, but it was definately the problem.
-
Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack v1.8.2 "Dramatical Death"
Here is a new version again. Just one change, but not really related to emotes:
v1.8.2 (March 11, 2008) "Dramatical Death"
================================
- this is not related to emotes, but the long lost death sound has been added for a more dramatical ambience when you die [Firebrand]
As it uses some of the same files as the emote pack, I haven't made a separated MOD for Dragons because they could mess together.
For people who remember the early times in Istaria, I added the "bell" sound which was played when you died.
Files are available at the previous link.
Bipeds will have their own MOD soon (©) to enjoy the same sound. ;)
Have fun, and don't hear bells too often. :D
-
Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
ask not for whom the bell toils, it toils for thee......
-
Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack v1.8.2 "Dramatical Death"
Awesome! :D thanks very much for the new update. I enjoy hearing finally what the deathbell sounds like. The new sounds are cool too. I am really sorry for the player I use my new headbutt and swat on, from what it sounds like...chances are the victim is gonna be in a coma for a while. Though the rockout/rouckoutindralk sound is a bit "out there"(ugh I dun wanna imagine what would happen if a bunch of dragons were all using it at the same time hehe), just my opinion though.
So far only tested this out on Ancient dragons.
There seems to be a problem with the hiss emote. Twice I tried it with the new sound mod, first attempt the sound will go off once and that is it(animation but no sound). Second time (after a relog) it went of twice in a row and that was it. Think you can fix this?
-
Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
- /hiss: fixed! Thank you for this one. :) I guess I haven't use this one oten since I ascended to Ancient Dragon. :p
- /headbutt, /swat: well, espacially for Ancient Dragons, I don't expect this moves to be weak and sweet. :D
- /rockout: the emote itself is already "out there". I don't think the first thing I would expect from a Dragon would be headbanging as at your favorite heavy metal band's concert.The sound is just an humorous touch as announced with v1.8. It shouldn't be taken seriously and for pure role play. ;)
I experienced it with a bunch of Dragons... it's funny. :D
Thanks for your feedback. :)
-
Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
Hehe true, rockout has always been a weird emote.. just even more so now. XD
Tried it but unfortunately hiss still not going off. Soooooo I attempted to fix it myself :) After futile attempts I just went and copy a piece from the old sound mod version (v1.7) and that appeared to fix it. It only plays one of the two hiss sounds, but hey, better than nothing.
So in the Dragona_u def file it was:
//dragona_u_hiss_n
{
string name = "dragona_u_hiss_n"
float overallChance = 100.0
TSample list sampleList =
{
{
string filename = "dragona_u_hiss.wav"
float chance = 50.0 //make sure to set to random play amount
}
{
string filename = "dragona_u_hiss2.wav"
float chance = 50.0 //make sure to set to random play amount
Changed it (back) to:
//dragona_u_hiss_n
{
string name = "dragona_u_hiss_n"
float overallChance = 100.0
TSample list sampleList =
{
{
string filename = "dragona_u_hiss.wav"
float randomPitchPercent = 20.0
Dunno what the problem is. I tried just inserting the "float randomPitchPercent = 20.0" thing to the new mod but that doesn't fix the problem either.
-
Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
Would be nice if an adult and a hatchling dragon could test that emote too, so we can figure out what's wrong with the ancient one
-
Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
I fixed it internally but haven't released the new version yet. Maybe I will rework one or few more things first before doing it, so I think to release it this week end.
And for the fix, it's even easier than that. But if you can't wait until the next version, just do what follows: go to resources_override\sound\characters\dragona_u and change dragon_u_hiss2.wav to dragona_u_hiss2.wav
Yeah, it was a stupid and a very old one: it was already there in the very first release of the MOD by Zexoin (just checked the files). I'm surprised nobody else has noticed this before.
Your change has broken the random hiss sound, but well... it works.
-
Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
Lol that was it!?! Missing an "a" lol, that is silly. Hehehe thanks very much for the helpful hint firebrand. (wait for next version? pfft lunus don't wait for anything! :D) *fixes* All good now.
And yes it works perfectly for both adult and hatchies :)

Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
v1.8.3 is released. /hiss emotes have been reworked this time:
v1.8.3 (March 16, 2008)
==================
- /hiss has been fixed for Ancient Dragons [Firebrand]
- /hiss sounds are now slightly different for Hatchling, Adult and Ancients Dragons. However, Hatchling Dragons still have only one sound available for the emote and Adult/Ancient Dragons two sounds played randomly [Firebrand]
Files are available on this website:

Go to the bottom of the page then click on "Télécharger ce fichier" (that means "Download this file") button. A pop up will be displayed:

Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
Another small update to our emote pack. The /hop emote got some love as I was not satisfied with it. The folders structure was also changed. More details in the release notes:
v1.8.4 (June 07, 2008)
=================
- /hop sound is now more audible and different for Hatchling, Adult and Ancients Dragons [Firebrand]
- changed MOD folders organisation to be in line with other MODs like Terao's Map Pack or Valornyx's themes. As end users, you won't see a difference but your resources_override folder will be less messy [Firebrand]
- added a batch to remove all files from previous versions to prevent conflicts with new file structure. It runs automatically with installer version so if you see a DOS window while installing the MOD, it's not a virus attack but the batch cleaning the files of old versions of the emote pack in your resources_override folder. For people who prefer the version without installer, you will have to run manually the remove_previous_v1.8.4 batch in the Horizons folder [Firebrand]
Files are available on this website:
=> http://dragonnoir.planetemu.net/inde...ption&dl_id=45
Go to the bottom of the page then click on "Télécharger ce fichier" (that means "Download this file") button.
http://dragonnoir.planetemu.net/down...echarger01.png
A pop up will be displayed:
- "Lien 1" will lead you to the version with installer and will start automatically if you don't select any link.
- "Lien 2" will lead you to the version without installer.
http://dragonnoir.planetemu.net/down...echarger02.png
I have been reported that some people couldn't download the files. I tried with the following browsers and had no issue:
- Internet Explorer 7
- Opera v9.27
- Mozilla Firefox v2.0.0.14 (without any extension)
- Konqueror (Kubuntu v8.04 Hardy Heron)
Please report any problem and describe what happens.
Have fun. :)

Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
After several fixes and adjustments in previous versions, it is time to have real new additions to this MOD: the v1.9 has 3 more emotes with a sound. For example, you will realize that it's not a good idea to stay near an Ancient Dragon who has a cold. *grins*
However, the new sound statut should be considered as imperfect as I'm not fully satisfied with them. They may change (or not) if I can find better sound effects or if I am able to tweak them better.
As usual, feedback or bug reports about these new emotes are welcomed.
v1.9 (June 16, 2008)
================
- added a sound to /sneeze and /flyingsneeze emotes. Hatchling Dragons don't obviously have a /flyingsneeze emote. The sound is different for Hatchling, Adult and Ancient Dragons [Firebrand]
- added a sound to /shake emote. The sound is different for Hatchling, Adult and Ancient Dragons [Firebrand]
- fixed syntax on the /hop emote for Ancient Dragons. Ancient Dragon sound will now play instead of Adult Dragon sound [Firebrand]

Thanks for the update, loving it! Hope VI patches the pack in the game someday. ;)

Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
The Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack has reached its v2.0.
A v2.0 should bring something really compared to the older v1.x... and it is what we did in this version! The v1.x serie was focused only on Dragon emotes; the v2.0 is now focused on Dragon AND biped emotes.
Thus, 3 biped emotes have now a sound, but it's not finished: many regular emotes have been added to have roughly the same emotes for all races and genders. Many for Dryads are expermitental, so bug feedback will be appreciated.
Furthermore, the Dramatical Death Sound and the Ride Emote with Khutit Fix MODs have been merged with this MOD. Some fixes have been applied as well. If you are already using them it would be wise to uninstall them before installing this pack.
The Dragons have not been forgotten either: 2 new sounds have been added to their emotes: /crackneck and /greetemote. For /greetemote, the sounds are "real Dragon voices": you just have to find the right reference (it's written somewhere anyway). *grins* However, it should be more obvious for Adult Dragons for many of you than the other Dragons. ;)
I hope you will enjoy what must be the biggest release of this pack since we created it. :)
Here is the change log:
v2.0 (July 13, 2008)
===============
- added a sound to the /drink emote for bipdes [Firebrand]
- added a sound to the /wave and /wavehi emote. The sound is different for males and females but is the same for all biped races.
This may possibly be changed if I find some proper files or if I am able to alter current ones. [Firebrand]
- added some missing bipeds emotes based on other races or gender. I don't think it changes much: [Firebrand]
* added /please and /beg emote to Ssliks, male Satyr based on female Saris animation
* added /point to Ssliks, Satyrs, Saris,female Humans, female Dwarves, female Elfs, female Fiends and female Gnomes base on Human male animation
* activate the /yes emote for Saris female and female Satyr, based on Saris male animation (existing but unactive in definition file and based on
Human female animation)
* added /lick to male Satyrs based on female Satyrs definitions
* added /lick to male Saris based on female Saris definitions
* added /drink to female Saris and female Satyr, base on male Saris animation
* added new emotes to Dryads with existing Dryad animations: /cheer, /growl, /peer, /goaway, /shake, /beg, /wave
* added new emotes to Dryads based on human animations: /twirl, /highkick, /point, /dracgreet, /explain, /excite; it's pretty experimental,
so the results may be strange. Please report any issue
- activated the /drink emote for Dryads: animation exists, but definition was missing in emote definitions file [Firebrand]
- added the Ride Emote with Khutit Fix MOD in this pack. Also, Khutit now uses properly his own emotes definition file
instead of the Human Male one (bugged in offical files); this should have been the v1.1 to the Ride Emote and Khutit Fix MOD
but was never released. Genders were also fixed in the texts for the /ride emote [Firebrand]
- added the Dramatical Death Sound MOD for bipeds in the pack [Firebrand]
- fixed bite and strike sounds for Hatchling Dragons. This has been reported in this thread by Hellenia:
http://community.istaria.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=18891. This has not been tested, but the official files looks obviously wrong. Reported to Virtirum as well. [Firebrand]
- added a sound to the /crackneck emote. The sound is different for Hatchling, Adult and Ancient Dragons [Firebrand]
- added a sound to the /greetemote emote. The sound is different for Hatchling, Adult and Ancient Dragons [Firebrand]
- fixed /swat sound for Ancient Dragons. Files were reffering to Hatchling Dragon [Firebrand]
You can use the link located at the the first post of this thread to download the pack. I suggest you to use the installer version as it will now be a chore to uninstall the pack manually.
-
Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
Oh my god did you use the Varokh voice for the greet emote? XD
I hope you add sounds to the rest of the dragon emotes, and also the eat emote that blue found. :o
Loving the pack! *rolls off* :D
-
Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
Godamnit where did you find that hello sound XD gave me a good laugh :P
-
Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
Don't you mean Arokh, from Drakan games? No, it's not... but it would have been a good source though.
It seems the emotes based on other gender animations give weird results: models are resized while the animation is playing. Maybe funny if you are drunk, but it doesn't fit well. I'm curious to know what it gives with dryads... :D I will probably have to remove them in next version.... :rolleyes:

Man now I got it, it is the Draco voice from Dragonheart! :D Haha hilarous, the voices seemed similar to me so i mixed them up. :o

Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
Bingo! And yes, they were very similar (at least in french versions).
-
Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
Bipeds' sounds are known to be completly broken. I'm working on a a fix.
-
Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
The bipeds' sounds should be fixed now... I hope. :p
v2.0 fix (July 13, 2008)
=================
- bipeds' sounds should now work after using the proper naming conventions in definition files [Firebrand]
- fixed the random play for the /wave and /wavehi for male bipeds... even you couldn't have noticed it for the moment :-P [Firebrand]
You can download it at the same place.
-
Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
Weee time to test it out. :) Thanks for the new update btw.

Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack v1.8.2 "Dramatical Death"
*Pops back in* KK test done, now to comment! ^^
Tested it on my Ancient dragon and looks okay! :) Emotes and sounds fire just fine for both dragon and khutit from what I can tell. I really liked the new sound provided for the drink animation. As for the /greetemote, /wave and /wavehi, well they sound good....... but now I think it is going to make it all the more difficult to convince bipeds I am a female dragon with such a masculine voice. XD
I brought out my Saris (female) as well to test out how her emotes are. From what I saw, the sounds added to /drink, /wave, and /wavehi work great and all her other older sounds worked as they should. However, the saris(female) seems to be still missing the /yes emote completely. And one more thing. While the /point and /drink emote do work, both look very......... uncomfortable. Rather than try to explain it I'll show you what I mean.

Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
AquaRush: you will find the link at the first post of this topic.
Xanthia: first, thanks for your feedback:
- unfortunately, game files don't role play: Dragons only have one gender in definition files. Thus I can't make different sounds for male and female. Well, I could make a random play with male and female voices, but I think the result would be.... very strange... :rolleyes::D
- for the /yes, I made a mistake when auditing all bipeds' emotes and thought it exists in the emotes file. It doesn't. However, as it is a cross-gender/race animation, it will not be added in next version for the reasons below
- the size modification was already known: it is an unexpected effect of using cross-gender/race animations. Thus, it is a failure and all these animations will be removed in next version. Sadly, I can't do anything that waiting for Virtrium to complete the missing animations. However, I don't think this has a high priority and I won't hold my breath.
So far, only the /beg and /please animation for male Saris and male Satyr can be kept. :(
Hellenia: if you are talking about this animation, it's not one animation but 6 chained animations. And so far, we have not been able to make chained animations work.

Re: Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack
In Zexoin's and Firebrand's Sound Emotes Pack v2.0 were introduiced many new bipeds emotes using animations from another gender or another races. Unfortunately, these emotes were resizing the character models when used. Thus, most of them seemed ridiculous.
v2.0.1 is an intermadiate version that fixes the bipeds' emotes which can be fixed and removes the other ones as we don't have another choice.
Nothing really new then, but this is more a working version to focuse later on real new content instead of mixing creation and fixes.
Please look at release notes for details.
v2.0.1 (July 19, 2008)
================
- fixed male Fiends sounds: files weren't named properly. A batch will remove wrong files from previous v2.0/v2.0 fix while installing this version [Firebrand]
- fixed /highkick for Dryads that now uses a Dryad animation instead of a Human one [Firebrand]
- changed /beg and/please emotes animation for male Saris, male Satyrs and Ssliks [Firebrand]
- removed /lick emote for male Saris and male Satyrs [Firebrand]
- removed /drink for female Saris and female Satyrs. A batch will remove useless files from previous v2.0/v2.0 fix while installing this version [Firebrand]
- removed /point for all female characters, male Saris, male Dryads, male Satyrs and Ssliks [Firebrand]
- inactived yes_emote definition again for female Saris and female Satyrs as it won't be implemented because of the model stretching issue [Firebrand]
