    Are you using alt+tab to switch between applications? clicking on the task bar? Using some other function like Vista Aero features? or a third party shell/window manager?

    I think the resource manager DOES do instancing, but the object list isn't organized by object type, and parsing of object-lists is limited to one item per frame.
