Re: my first maps, a try

So you need an SSD to open such large images effectively, however, using SSDs as swap storage is misusing as so much writing quickly is seriously wearing on all the data cells.

Re: my first maps, a try

The 20kx30k Istaria map took 3 minutes to download (VDSL25M @ 2.7 Mbyte/s) and about 4 to 5 minutes to open with GIMP on a 3.2GHz quad core computer with 4GB DDR3-1333 RAM. Unfortunately though, GIMP...

    Re: Connection Speeds

To add: I play Istaria on a ADSL 768k/128k at my parents'.
Also, i once tried Istaria via 3G in a public train heh. It worked well, but i'd recommend using a VPN to do so because Istaria seems to be...

    Re: Connection Speeds

Istaria is reliably playable even on GPRS because it's network backend was programmed with 56k in mind.
At most, Istaria eats 16kbyte/s (usually during teleport, otherwise 4 to 5kbyte/s are normal)...

Re: getting a new pc soon :D

Will both suffice for Istaria, but *not* for other games. I'd recommend additionally buying an nVidia GTX560 (about $200) or an ATI Radeon HD 6870 (also about $200).

    Re: Rant...100% about Istaria

However, in contrast to WoW, this game is not meant to make money, it's meant to make fun for the players. This is what most games now today lack in and this is also where Istaria shines.

    Re: duels

Istaria's current (time) setting and situation does not allow PvP and it will never allow PvP.

So your best bet is visiting the Arena which is the only (consensual) PvP area.

    Re: Lair/Plot Planner

Istaria is not Facebook or Google Streetview. That's why the Plot/Lair plans are visible owner only.

    Re: Dragons for free??!

Over 50% of all player characters are dragons.
There are not many players playing the non-human biped races.
If dragons were playable for free, VI could close Istaria after 2 months for insolvency....

    Re: Dragons for free??!

Bad idea imo. As told above, it's only a feature of the game that humans are playable without a subscription.

Dragons should stay pay to play, otherwise VI won't make enough money to cover regular...

    Hello,

  21. Re: Would you pay for old items to help the devs raise more income to improve the ga

    Glad to hear that.
  22. Re: Would you pay for old items to help the devs raise more income to improve the ga

    NO WAY.

I'll immediately leave Istaria if there's ANY possibility for Dollardoping.
  23. Poll: Re: Would you pay an additional $5 a month to cut lag?

    I voted no, why?

Istaria is as expensive as WoW.
Blizzard manages to give a lag-free experience with $14.95 a month. So VI can do the same.

I admit, the problem is that the netcode is...

Re: Need Copy of Map Pack

    NOTE:

If you use Vista64, it's the same path as it should be described as in Win7
If you use Seven32, it's the same path as it should be described as in XP - Vista

    Should be corrected.
