    Default Upcoming Change to Flame, Energy and Ice Bone Splinters



    This announcement is to let you know about an upcoming change to some Tier 3 techniques. Flame, Ice and Energy Bone Splinters are being removed from the general loot tables of T3 skeletons as they were originally intended to be Event technique components only.

    This change will affect a number of techniques and invalidate players? stocks of these two components, so we wanted to give you a heads up in advance so that you could use the components that you have now and begin preparing for the change. This will likely hit the live shards in 2 or 3 weeks.

    These three splinters are being replaced with four components (one of which did not drop previously, one which did but wasn?t used, andtwo brand new ones):

    Greater Skeleton Skull
    - Craft: Quarrying III
    - Defense: Energy Resistance III
    - Spell: Flame Damage III
    - Spell: Stun III

    Wraith Master Ectoplasm
    - Adventure: 2-H Crush III
    - Craft: Clothworking III
    - Craft: Sculpting III
    - Defense: Flame Resistance III
    - Spell: Burning Damage III
    - Spell: Combust III
    - Spell: Derange III
    - Spell: Spirit Damage III
    - Statistic: Speed III

    Greater Ghost Vapor
    - Adventure: Dragon Breath III
    - Adventure: Ice III
    - Defense: Block III
    - Defense: Flame Ward III
    - Spell: Chill III
    - Spell: Flame Range III
    - Spell: Spirit Range III

    Redbacked Spider Breeder Eye
    - Adventure: Dragon Breath III
    - Ability: Power Strike III
    - Adventure: Crossbow III
    - Craft: Essence Shaping III
    - Craft: Mining III
    - Craft: Scalecraft III
    - Craft: Woodworking III
    - Defense: Energy Ward III
    - Spell: Cleanse III
    - Spell: Energy Damage III
    - Spell: Energy Range III
    - Spell: Taint III
    - Statistic: Focus III

    A few other changes:
    - Defense: Ice Resistance III will require Winter Gruok Knuckles
    - Adventure: 1-H Crush III will require Redbacked Spider Eye
    - Adventure: Tooth & Claw III will require Imbued Armor Splinter

    Other Changes of Note:
    All three Dragon Breath quests have been updated so that you will still get splinters as loot drops when you are on the quests and killing the skeletons in the western deadlands.

    Banners and Dragon event techs are being looked at.

    How about Banners? I believe those consume splinters as well.

    Also Energy Splinters might be included in this list too?

    What about Primal Flash? I know it is not a much used spell but please tell my you want to do away with this spell Tech completely. It's not like dragons have all that much to put on spells as is.

    The drop-rate of these splinters and their effects on Banners and also on Dragon Breath quests is being looked at.
    And Energy Bone Splinters are not being changed as they are regular tech components, not event related.

    Yes. Big question about banners. They are kind of buged now for over a year (mainly t1-2). with removeing splinters they are finaly dead.

    and why you name onyl 2 of 3 splinters? what is with energy bone splinter?

    back to banners.
    t1/2 volcano uses flame beetle carparse. used to be t1 drop and changed with merge to t4.
    ->this kind of banners is out
    t1/2 tempest banner uses spiderling silk- used to be t1 drop and donnt drop at all after merge

    t3/4 volcano banenrs uses flame bone splinters. used to be a not to bad drop in WD with only use in banenrs . after merge it was aultra rare tech item and now it leaves at all

    overal issue of banners after merge is that they lost all effects on spellcasters (together with most other items and abilitys. but thats different issue)

    As a kind of fix i sugested long ago to add a banner cell form whick may use the up to now unused flame essence to create a kind of orb to use a banner. Maybe a combination of flame essence, ground gems and essence gives out on tiered flame orb to be used in volcano banners. Then add a smaller kind of storm wisps to lesser aradoth fo same on temperst banners. maybe near the 2 lakes.

    Edit: energy bone splinters are not like the others? They started with same mobs, used at same banenrs, used at breath quests too, and changed from event drop to tech items with same merge.

    Well, good! With strenums, skulls, three types of bone splinters and an armor splinters, it was always a right pain to get the proper type of drop from tier III skeletons. I for one am happy to see this getting simplified.

    They are not being removed from the game, only from the loot tables on the T3 skeletons in the Northern Deadlands. All three splinters will still be available from the Vielo in the interim.

    Which is new? Breeder Spider Eye? And the ectoplasm is being renamed looks like? Or made into a tiered resource?

    Just a nitpick, but I hope you mean the northern deadlands. The breath quests are level 50 and expecting dragons to kill level 60-80 skeles in the WD is a bit harsh.

    Amon what about imbued armor splinters they drop from the greater skeletons at the current time and are a vital technique compontent for all armor as in used for Armor III is something else goin to replace this if so let us know thx ^^

    So that would be 2 types of resource from 1 mob? if so would the drp rate be increased cause it would b a pain for ppl like me who needs lots of imbued splinters for stuff to continueally getting skulls

    Actually, they will increase based on the simple fact that there are fewer items on the treasure table to pull from (having removed 3 out of 5 that were on the list).

    Aye, because pre-merge the western deadlands was where the scorching, freezing, sizzeling, etc. skeletons were found. While completing the quests back then was a pain, there were at least level 40ish skeles out there to fight. After the merge, the western deadlands became a T4 area and the splinters were moved to T3 skeles in the northern deadlands. The quest text was never changed.

    So the question becomes, what is the difficulty of these quests supposed to be? Do you want to send level 50 dragons up against things 10-30 levels above them? :P

    The quest may say Western Deadlands but it has counted the splinters from the Northern Deadlands just fine.

    which doesn't help with the breath quest AT ALL since they need to be looted!

    The quest originally pointed to the West deadlands as there were the elemental skeletons levels ~40-80 that could drop them. After the elemental skeletons were removed, the splinters were dumped into the loot tables of the Greater Skeletons. These are mostly found on trandalar, although the quest text was never updated to reflect that fact. Although it is possible, but uncommon to see a Greater Skeleton in the Westdeadlands. Theysplinters were still looted from t3 skeletons not t4 regardlessof their location.

    Nowin my opinion the quests should be changed to have the splinters drop off Greater skeletons. And the text should be changed to reflect the location of the skeletons. Which is appropriate as those skeletons are around level 50 which is the level of the quest. And has been the level of the mobs needed to be killed in all past instances of the quest.

    Forgive me for being slightly tangential, but I think this is a superb example of the benefits of exposing such changes to the players for comments in advance of the changes.

    Some of the comments above, especially PJ's latter post, seem to be very constructive.
