Cleric is melee oriented class
Druid is more melee oriented (8 1 hc/6 2hc from memory)
Spiritist is a caster admitedly mage is a caster as well but priest casters are generally weaker in every regard except healing.
Simple explanation - life taps and leeches; both single target and area effect. Not to mention an insta-stun (soul shock) and spirit walk.
My opinion:
Spirit walk combined with monk foresight, and add the druid stuns (shocking blast, thunder cloud) to the soul shock line-up and the lack of armor is moot when a golem decides to ore dump on you. Now an add is instant death, but chaining one on one is pretty fast and that spirit bolt bites hard and quick.
Lastly, the armor use is not going to make or break you when it comes to cloth; stuns will. If anyone wishes to do spirit as a first or single class - good luck. Take healer/druid/shamen/cleric first, and then you have formidable focus, heals, buffs, stuns, dots, armor use andhealth to really have fun as a spiritist (can also use Dark Cyclone)
<edit> and mage 36 - nuttin beats a multi-casted theft of life except a multi-casted improved theft of life: perf spell + stun + multi cast + life-tap

As far as druid being more melee based, spiritist get 8 1hp/lvl 6 2hc. Making them equivilents. Spiritist armor usage should have no bearing on multiclassing for stuns and heals. The fact is it is the only base class that gets 8 AU/ level. Its kinda a moot point, the class is worthless now after the March nerfing of thefts/syphons. Youre better off just using heals to reclaim hps.
shamans get 8 AU aswell..
