Thread: All-Time Favorite Oldie Game?

  1. #1

    Default All-Time Favorite Oldie Game?

Just bored at work and was thinking about a favorite game I dusted off the other day during maintenance, and thought I'd start a thread to see what people's favorite games were. [:P]

    Anyway,

My fave Oldie is Planescape Torment. It's dark, morbid, gross and totally innovative. *Shut up Morte!*

In my view, Planescape: Torment was the very best RPG ever released. Good call there.

Another all-time favorite oldie was Sid Meier's "Pirates!" I literally wore the disks out playing it. The good news is that it has been gussied up with state of the art graphics and loads of new content, and is being re-released November 16. I've already preordered my copy, natch. [;)]

Wizardry I - the first one, waaayyy back for the Apple II C...

More "up to date" favorite "older" game. Elder Scrolls I: Daggerfall.

Morrowind is cool and all, but for some reason I still like Daggerfall better. I know I love getting on horseback and running around town in that game.

or well I did...it doesn't run on WIN XP. And let me tell you that really PISSED me off, and I even debated upgrading to XP at all for the simple reason that I could no longer play Daggerfall if I did.

And no, not even the converter window thingy program in XP works.

Nothing like finding your own severed, petrified arm to use as a club, not to mention using your own internal organs as magic item...hehe [6]

I really like Morrowind too. I think if they updated the character models and tweaked some other things, that it would make a great MMO. The landmass is very large, and nifty mobs and stuff.

Hmm, haven't tried Daggerfall. Not that I can now if it doesn't run on xp :/ I did like Morrowind though. My favourite older rpg has to be Shining in the Darkness for Sega. I actually managed to d/l a copy of it and a converter and I play it now and then for nostalgia purposes.

Actually that would Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall
    Elder Scrolls I: Arena [;)]

I never played PS:T but I've tried a lot of the other AD&D computer games

For C64 I think my favorite was Madman64, so old it was on tape - haven't found it converted yet.

For Amiga it must be Superfrog, usually got to Project F before dying...

For PC, I don't know... I think one of the old TSR games made SSI...

    Really??

I thought Elder Scrolls II was Battlespire?

Which was also a good game, much smaller scale than Daggerfall or Morrowind - hada mostly direct storyline, more along the lines of a regular RPG game. But pretty cool all the same :).

In any case, I was disappointed iwth no horses in Morrowind to ride, that was one of my favorite thigns about daggerfall - being on horseback running around town, having a cart...

breaking into shops and filling my cart up...:). That's how you get all the top notch armor ...break into a store at night. Not all the inventory was the same as the day time :).

Rise of the Triad will always have a special place in my heart.

The Dog Mode Powerup was the BEST POWERUP EVER, though the Drunken Missiles were pretty tight too.

Lol, i remember that game, i was sick and a friend came over and helped me install it... OMG, ths screeen jumps like crasy, and when you hit an enemy with one of those rockets, (since 80% of the weapons are some sort of rocketlauncher(yes, i liked the drunken missiles)) he splatters to bits and pieces, blood and organs everywhere, screenshaking like mad..

I remember that night, have neverhad aheadache like that andnever been thatill before..

But i did play it afterwards, a bit of a strange ending though.

Oh my...someone mentioned the Amiga. I played a game when I had my Amiga that was just too much mindless fun.

    Lemmings!!! [:|]

Anyone else remember that game? It was addictive, they were so cute, perky and stupid! The PC version didn't have nearly the same graphics or sounds.

My kids and I STILL play the old Scott Adams text adventures from the VIC-20 days. They're available for the PC; we got a free download of all of them wrapped up tidy in a small zip file.
