Help wanted. Login/patching problems.

hello all.
maybe wrong place to post this topic but i do it anyway.

Need somehelp.
Just got a new pc and installed horizons on it. But when i should make full scan i got this message:
"Sorry the game couldn't be started since necessary files couldn't be downloaded"
The reason:
Couldn't download "no_update_list.auc"

is there some windows update i might have forgot to DL?
or is it just me who lack pc skills ;)


Please help me out.

This worked for me:

Here is a temporary fix for this problem. It only works on Windows NT/2k/XP (and 2003? Dunno.)

Open the file c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (or where ever you have installed Windows) in Notepad.

Add this line at the end of the file:
68.142.64.216 patch.eu.istaria.com

The space between the IP and hostname is a tab. Save it and try to patch again. Make sure the file is saved as plain text, nothing else. You should remove this when the patch server is failed.

Heya Ular,

I get this problem occasionally .. the Problem is in the directory /version_info/ as a subdirectory of Horizons ... The way I fix it is to change the files with Azalites files (on her computer) ... By just overwriting them, I can get it to patch properly.
