Different artists use different programs. Heck, some artists use different programs for different pieces! For instance, I do all the heavy lifting of my vector icons (example from my dA) using Adobe Illustrator, but less hyperstylized pieces (another example) are done in Adobe Photoshop. I've also recently acquired Manga Studio 5, which is sort of like Photoshop I guess except not really. No examples from that up in my gallery, but it's interesting. And not only for producing manga.

Other well-known programs include:
Paint Tool SAI
GIMP
Corel Painter
MS Paint (don't laugh, you can get some amazing results with it!)

And probably a boat-load of others I can't think of offhand! If you're curious about a specific piece, don't be shy about asking someone what program(s) they used to make it.

Many artists also use Tablets, or some work by mouse. Or traditionally on paper.
I myself use Photoshop CS6 and a Wacom Tablet- I have been using it for about 3 years

I have not uploaded art in too long!
Here are some recent projects and such.

I am working on a dragon design for my BF. Here he is next to Agua his name is Airow. They are both pictured here with out wings


And this is a sculpture I made from super sculpty. I really would love to take commissions for dragon sculptures! He is entirely hand crafted and about a foot long. Each scale crafted individually!


This is another picture I am working on. Just for fun trying another technique


I've been really into do sketch pages as well. Here are the ones I have done so far.
Here is one between Agua and my saris Lolaya just doing some studies on her aging.

This one has various characters of mine only one of them belongs to a friend.
