    Default Do resistances amke any sence?

    Been hunting elite blights which do energy and blight damage so i made some jewlery and armor with energy and blight resistances but damage inflicted frob lights hasnt reduced 1 bit. Had 455 energy resistance. So what i want to know is if resistances work at all or could have damage type been displayed wrong or is my resistance too low to have any effec and if so how much would be enough?

    Likely it is too low to have much of an effect.

    What is the ratio for resist/ward to count for armor/evasion? 1:1? If yes 455 should make a deifference as 455 armor have/nothave is a huge difference

    455 resistance is a lot. That should be more than enough to mitigate some damage. I've seen noticable differences with 250ish resistances (on other mobs)

    Test that 455 energy resistance against an undead wizard, you will see how great it does. I don't recall many energy attacks coming from the elite blights, so maybe that is the cause...

    However, I have said it many times before... I think blights are bugged somehow.

    After finishing chaos warrior, I went from padded ironsilk to mithril plate armor, and my damage taken from t6 blights remained almost exactly the same. It's like they are hitting for etherial damage, or some other form of damage that cannot be resisted (like the oastics with piercing dmg instead of pierce).

    Ethereal damage should be able to be resisted, but not by armour

    Indeed resistances work. Friend bolted me with energy bolt 4 difference with energy resistance and without it were 56-93 damage without resistance and 37-57 with resistance. Resistance difference was 400 and damage reduction was 19-36.But that leaves me puzzled as these were damages done by veteran blight on me with resistances

    [05/17/06 14:42:14] Veteran Tempest Blight -> Ssajit [ 92 energy ]

    [05/17/06 14:42:44] Veteran Tempest Blight -> Ssajit [ 85 energy ]
    [05/17/06 14:42:51] Veteran Tempest Blight -> Ssajit [ 72 energy ]
    [05/17/06 14:43:10] Veteran Tempest Blight -> Ssajit [ 91 energy ]

    And these without resistances

    [05/17/06 14:43:30] Veteran Tempest Blight -> Ssajit [ 103 energy ]

    [05/17/06 14:44:18] Veteran Tempest Blight -> Ssajit [ 102 energy ]
    [05/17/06 14:44:31] Veteran Tempest Blight -> Ssajit [ 67 energy ]
    [05/17/06 14:44:41] Veteran Tempest Blight -> Ssajit [ 92 energy ]
    [05/17/06 14:44:43] Veteran Tempest Blight -> Ssajit [ 78 energy ]
    [05/17/06 14:44:54] Veteran Tempest Blight -> Ssajit [ 78 energy ]
    [05/17/06 14:44:46] Veteran Tempest Blight -> Ssajit [ 102 energy ]
    [05/17/06 14:44:21] Veteran Tempest Blight -> Ssajit [ 83 energy ]

    This time difference in resistance was only 200. can the damage reduction be so small? 7-11 pts?

    Does Resist add to armour or Etheral Armour and Armour. Mybe that is the problem it only adds to armour and not both. That might explain it if Blights do ethereal damage like I think and want to say I have heard they do.

    It is a separate reduction, you will get resist + armour or resist + ethereal armour from what was explained.

    do same test with a weapon + energy atatck + elven leadership. Use a slow and a fast weapon. Maybe delay does a part too.
    And if the tester is a reaver you even can test the ethereal part.

    Resistances are effectively added to armor and ethereal armor for damage of the appropriate type.

    I've never revealed this before, but will do so now. Armor (and therefore resistances) reduce damage per second by their value divided by 45. So 225 resistance will reduce incoming damage of its type by 5 DPS. Therefore against a weapon with delay 30 (3.0 seconds), damage will be reduced by 15.

    Ssajit's numbers above make sense.

    Thats why I dont bother with resistances, One and two hit kills takes care of that
