Soloing Valkor

As most of you know, the Database of the European Shard Unity was "mirrored" some weeks ago and is (hopefully) implemented into a new shard, located in the US.

As most Unitarians see no sense in playing on the "old" database that is going to be whiped the day when GN ends his service, the shard is nearly dead since then.

Sad for Unity - but perfect for testing!

I always had the dream of soloing Valkor but never could give it a real try. There were always other players that were eager fighting him for the fun/loot. What could be better for making my dream come true than a nearly dead server?

Anyway: i climbed the hill to Valkor's Castle more than a dozen of times, with a plan in my head and a strong belief in my heart. Many times he finally struck me down after long fights, when i already thought i had him.

But on 5th of January a.D. 2007 i killed the rotten walking bonepile - alone!

See Picture1 (Valkor falling after 50min of heavy battle) and Picture2 (Lousy loot as always, Staff 5/5). Couldn't upload the chatlog.txt as it exceeds the max.filesize ...

well done! As I knew your mission I really waited when such a posting would happen

Sadly Joa's melee skill aren't fitting one to try that mission as well - and no I won't do another 50lvl Guardian which aren't going to be transfered anymore

At least Joa had a chance to peek into Hagens backpack and found a piece of paper:

How many times you failed before you killed him? 10 times or such ?

Congratz Hag that is awesome. I was in the process of doing the same on Blight, since its impossible to even get a shot on Chaos. But Blight is closed so that will have to wait.

Anyway thats an awesome feat!

A special thank goes out to Jayne, as she was the only American Player to "jump over the shadow" and congratulate me. Hey, you others out there - we Europeans are not responsible for the "death" of Blight. All we are "guilty of" is sharing the love for the same great game!

But enough "Politics", here's to the questions and remarks:

Hey, you really think i'm insane?

I gave Fafnir a shot yesterday - but as he dodged my first 2 Thunderclouds and then wiped me with a single multistrike i knew i have to let others do that one solo. (Was kinda shocked that he didn't care at all about my +70 Block- and +36 Parry-Bonus)

Not that many. Usual Gifts, Melee ward, Enhances, Festival Cookie, Candied Apple, Gummy Maggot and the Rest is mostly Potions. Last two you see on the picture are Melee Flurry and Boar's Rage effect.

Didn't count - but you can surely double that. Seems i had to narrow him in, getting closer and closer.

Hehe, nothing to be ashamed of i think. Right after the fight i had pure Adrenaline in my veins and sounded like a hybrid of a cowboy and a dog. "Yeeeehaaaawww" and "Wowowowwowowwwowowow" was first i could type.

I know you could do it too if your Chaos' mates give you the chance to. They can still stand around and cheer at you and roll for the loot after you've killed him.

I'd be happy to help you with information in case you can organize that kind of "show".

Rough setup was like this:

Cleric (AR 176)
TPs in Nature (max.)/Magic Evasion (2/3) and THC (1/3)
Used a blighted lvl 95 maul with +50 Nature and some extra Undead-/Flame-dmg
(Blighted) Equipment with Nature-/THC-Bonus (and a bit of Spirit-Ward).

This way i brough Nature to ~1650 and THC to ~1750

As you see in the screenie i had Thunder Clouds V, IV and III and Spellbind (from Sorcerer) to keep him under control. Though i had to learn the hard way that my nature-skill had to be very high for steady stunning. Else he'd sometimes slip 2 (or even all 3) Thounder Clouds ... *DANG*

Rest was just hard (crush-)hitting him and keeping all potions/buffs up.
