PayPal cancelled my sub?

I have tickets open with both Paypal and Virtrium, but I wanted to see if anybody else was running into this:

Paypal sent me an email saying that my subscription to HZ (Grandfathered, 12.95) had been cancelled on Oct 3rd.

Obviously, *I* didn't cancel it.

Anybody else getting these emails?

Are you positive that it's really from paypal, not some scammer setting the stage to get your personal data as next step?

The 12.95/monthly grandfathered sub is (supposed to be) auto-renewing.

I am on the same fee as you are, through pay pal. I did not yet, recieve any cancellation notice. However, are you sure your credit card didnt get declined which caused this to happen?

Yep, just re-checked... not a credit card, straight from my checking acct, and positive balance.

I'd thought that myself, so I PM'ed Horizons-CS back in AUgust... he assured me that the Grandfather 1 month was an auto-renewing plan, would last forever until cancelled. (And somehow mine cancelled itself)

As a matter of interest was the e-mail addressed to you using your full Paypal name or was it simply addressed to "Dear Paypal Customer"? The latter is a sure sign that it is a phishing e-mail.

Full name, non-phishing. Plus, I've logged into Paypal to open the ticket with them.

Recently had email confirming this months payment with PayPal has gone through, so grandfather account is definitely renewing every month for me

I just recieved e-mails saying my account was cancelled as well. I paid for a 6 month gifted as well as 1 character slot upgrade. I know that I did not cancel it. So I am hoping Virtirum can help with my situation as well.

So, just to update since I started the thread, here's what to do:

1.) Do NOT try to contact Paypal. (Long version: They do NOT understand the concept "You cancelled this without my authorization." Any attempt to use their system will lead them to believe the subscription was unauthorized. Their automated system will send an email to Virtrium's automated system and you get a refund... which is NOT what you wanted in the first place!!)

2.) DO open a support ticket with Virtrium! (They can re-activate the account to Paypal, voila, no harm, no dragon-rending-death for Paypal )
