*Winging across the sky, following several miles behind Broc, comes GalCamder - returning from his long trekk. As the familiar ground patterns of Istaria are seen thru the clouds, GalCamder smiles as his great nostrils flare open, giving him his first 'scent of home' in MANY a long while.*

With a roar not heard in Istaria for an age, Sharapantilligoth "Sharptooth" welcomes the elder dragons back to the Realm. As the first of Kraken Guard's dragons to break free of the crusted lava and wake from his long slumber, he is pleased to see that his efforts have weakened the entombing rock enough to allow the ancients to stir once again.

The WA will once again tremble before our mighty guild.

    We have returned.

Default The Queen Declares A Day Of Mourning

    Too Short a Season

    Brown and grey combined
    Created a god of love
    A being made to snuggle
    To cuddle up with

So young, too short a time to love you
    It would seem
But your large frame was built
    To absorb all my feelings
    Reflect them back
    A thousand times a day

    Named in love, for love
I will miss your silent sounds
    As I stroked you,
    Your quiet welcome home
Miss your attempts to trip me on the stairs
Your silky smooth glide thru my legs when you wanted attention

    Goodbye Tada-O
Your body was gone too soon
    Your spirit is here forever.

approximately one hour ago, i had to put down my male cat, tada. he developed congestive heart failure, which was misdiagnosed as feline asthma. he was only 2.5 years old.
so i am back to a 2 cat house - that should please some peeps.

condolences are never intrusive or presumsative.

thank you ver and all who post.
this is not the first cat i have had to put down, but certainly the youngest.
i will miss him most for that reason, i think - i had time with the others to get used to the time of all endings - this one was totally unexpected, even until the second before the vet called me into the exam room and there was no tada on the table.
    that's when i knew......

unfortunately, there is no heartbreak smiley for me to post....

I'm very sorry to hear that, Velveeta. Please accept our condolences.

Oddly enough, I ran across this earlier tonight, and it immediatly leaped to mind:

DESDEMONA REORGANISES PURRADISE TO HER LIKING - S L Smith

    In purradise shall I decree
A stately castle built for me,
Where plump and juicy mice will crawl,
And cower 'neath my velvet paw.
    A cat-bed, four-poster in design,
Stuffed with swansdown shall be mine
    With catnip scented pillows laid
Whereon to rest my feline head.

    Foamy whiteness, creamy sweet,
Shall fill the bowl wherefrom I eat,
And meats laid upon a silver tray,
Shall be presented through the day -
With breast of pheasant, tongue of lark,
Laid before me should I ask,
All washed down with catnip wine,
If I but ask, it shall be mine.

No litter tray my rump demeans,
    However scented, though so clean,
But golden sands and honest earth,
So my paws shall dig fresh dirt,
A screen of grasses shall provide
A private place for me to hide
When to my toilet I attend,
    In these fields Elysian.

Birds shall fly away no more,
But perch upon my upraised paw,
Until I grow tired of their song,
And in one bite they shall be gone.
And fish and mice shall give me play,
Should I desire the hunt or chase,
    Before I settle down replete
With all the fancies I would eat.

    In purradise shall I decree
A stately castle built for me.

Oh, Velveeta, I am so so sorry to hear this. I know how hard it is to lose a loved pet in this way, (or in any way). You made the kindest choice for him.

Your poem is a lovely tribute to him, and LO's is as well. I am glad for Tada that he was lucky enough to have spent his short time in this life with such a loving kitty mommy.

You are in my thoughts. *Hugs*

the crown is pleased to announce the granting of adulthood to another young dragon of the realm!
we hereby happily announce that ilkhan is to be given all the rights and responsibilites of those of his race, having completed the necessary rites of passage!
a suitable celebration was attended by many at the holy place in brist and was very well attended.

"Safe flights and safer home ilKhan" is the best translation of this dragon farewell, though "Fly well and come better to your home ilKhan" is more literal.

IlKhan would be the dragon that Velveeta referred to earlier in this thread. In this case, it seems to be more of a blessing to a hatchling who just ascended to adulthood than a farewell.

GAH...and actually, ye are correct Oakleif - I miss spoke.

    Hoberton - http://www.lindenhall.org/rothwell/h...agonspeech.pdf

I have only recenly come across this, and looked at the WRONG section when typing

What should have been Properly said is:

Cal ieo rasitauaie vi neio ilKhan!

And to save Hobarton from looking through the sheets to find that phrase, it is a formal congratulations in dragon speech, most litterally "I am delighted for you, IlKhan!"

((Nice to know that someone is still using my English-Dragon and Dragon-English dictionary))

HEAR YE! HEAR YE! HEAR YE!

the crown is pleased to announce the completion of the sslanis coast lighthouse.
the lighthouse was finished and declared ready for duty in a brief ceremony attended by our beloved subject katrone and honored visitor to our realm, trust_chaos.
we are pleased to present the following images of the occasion!

laying the final load of braces:

    just completed:

the queen and honored guest at the top:

the queen enjoys the new view of her realm:

looking toward sslanis from the lighthouse rail:

the queen would like to thank katrone, trust, and all the blighties who were there in spirit. without them, the crown would have no reason to perform such construction projects. long live blight and the spirit she possesses!
