Thread: The small things: Having a tell noise?

Default The small things: Having a tell noise?

It seems odd that we have a noise for new outgoing tells but none for incoming and none for each recieved tell. It would be nice if we had one for incoming. Or better yet, an option box to recieve a noise for each tell.

I suppose this stems from too many missed tells because I didn't notice the blinking box or got up to do something, but am nearby and with only a visual indication, it is something easily missed.

I could also be more reminicing of SWG days where I would start hearing the noise in my sleep. Tells are often something that warrents attention even if it's something to the effect of 'Are you still there?'

There is a sound for new, incoming tells. However, it's very low, and it won't trigger for any tab that's active.

And the volume control they added for it doesn't work as far as I can tell.

it's a little bloop sound that is almost not audible if you are in battle

oh yes that would be nice, since its common in the other games I play Iam running of high danger to miss an incoming tell the way it is now.

Find a .wav file you like (such as a blood-curdling scream or fingernails on a chalkboard), copy it to your resources_override folder, and rename it to "notify.wav".

I'm sure you can have lots of fun with that.

The two Dragon mods have the incoming tell Beep turned up. It's by V who does the Icon mod, or maybe it is the chat tab mod he added that does it. I know with his UI mod installed I can hear tell beeps just fine.

does it need to be in a folder? I cannot seem to get it to work.

it'll need to be in the same location as it is in the resources folder..

eg if it's in a folder called /sounds then it needs to be in resources_override/sounds

All the phones at my highschool have this default ring tone that says "Are you there?" over and over in the most annoying voice... wonder if I can't get a .wav of that. XD

How did you find what the file was called, by the way? Did you just listen to all the likely-named files, or something?

As in Portal android sentry guns? "Hello? Are you there? Hello?"

I have wav clips of those ^_^ Good idea! Although I think I'll just stick with a short, reletavly loud noise.

Wouldn't know, I've only seen preview movies for that (though it looks neat!). But it doesn't sound like a robot voice or anything... the first few times I heard it, I seriously thought there was a man hiding under my teacher's desks. o.O

i work for a call center and two of the choices of incoming call notification is a man or a woman's voice repeatedly saying 'are you there?' in a very irritating manner.
this ringtone, of course, has been banned - totally, completely, and without complaint from the employees - from being used.

LOL! See, so at least one person is familiar with that ringtone. Good job getting it banned (whether it was you or not ), just wish my school would go about doing the same thing.

Still, it might be okay as a notify sound effect since it would only happen once.

Then there's the female elf death sound...

As for finding notify.wav, I looked for it before, a combination of def file scanning and listening to some candidates.

You should be able to drop a replacement notify.wav (it has to be a .wav file, not an .mp3 file renamed to .wav) directly into resources_override. I've verified this on the current Blight client. Don't forget to relog after doing this!
