with appalling copyright protection... I was so looking forward to spore then came the stories it's gonna basically become sims ("oh no, even though there's a video from 3 years ago with underwater creatures in, we realised we can't do it now... maybe in an #cough#expansion#cough# at some point" - yeah, I don't think you're gonna bleed me dry thank you very much) and now the whole "you can only install it 3 times. in total. ever." rubbish.

I love Sims and I love Will Wright, and I know company's are out to make a profit, but sometimes it's just going too far. I've looked forward to this game for years now but I will NOT be buying it.

I will still try out the creator though

Btw EA may own everything but even their clients don't like them. The retailer I work for (and we're the largest in the UK) regularly gets into arguments with them and, as 'revenge', hikes their prices up. We've been arguing for the past... 6 months or so now, and we did a couple of christmas' back too; at that time Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on PS2 went up to £40 brand new when all non-EA PS2 games were only £30 brand new.

I was looking forward to it to, but if I can only install it 3 times I won't bother. My harrd drive crashes too often to pay $50 for a game I can't use after the third time.

You can only install it 3 times? Seesh how silly is that? What happens when you get a new HD and need to renistall it? Or the HD dies? Or you got a virus? Man, that is silly....

It's not three times total, it's three concurrent installations. After that, you have to phone up and get one of the installations deactivated before you can install again. Although given this is EA you're calling, you probably stand more chance of winning the lottery than getting a deactivation done correctly on your first call. It's like only being able to authorise 5 computers in iTunes, except there's no one-click deauthorise button (yet - it's one of the main requests on the Mass Effect forum, which uses the same system).

I hate the system as much as anyone, but we might as well complain about the correct information

lol did'nt know that Antonath, only read a newspost on it a few months back which made it sound like 3 times total but still, you can guarantee as you say it will go wrong to start with and tbh if I pay £30 for a game (which you know it will be when it's first out), I don't want to then have to waste time (and money) phoning up to be able to use it. I don't mind it on FATE, being as that's a free game anyway, I kinda figure they're entitled to limit us seeing as how they made this amazing game for free, but when we're paying through the nose anyway...

Ugh I hate copy protection. I'm completely against game piracy, I believe in supporting those that provide me with hours of entertainment, but I'm also against money-grabbing companies using that excuse in order to steal even more of our money, or at least inconvenience us. The ironic thing is, those that hack it/download hacks of it will probably in the long run have far less issues and more enjoyment out of it than those legit customers.

Sorry for the OT, kinda ended up on a bit of a rant there... hehe.

On a sidenote though, I AM Curious as to how Spore on the DS will turn out.

Oh, btw, test drive: Click the egg on the bottom to spawn a few adorable babies that will do anything you do. If you roar, they roar too, except just cuter.

I bought the full creator. You can do SO MUCH more with the full than the trial. For example, two attempts to create the same character of mine, a Kihane:



Although, if you buy the full creator.. do it in store and not online. the EADM is a PAIN in the arse to deal with, and reminds me of why I absolutely hate EA.

You can uninstall the download manager, or go to your spore directory and remove the DMCmdPortalClient.dll. That's what I had to do to make it work, anyways. ><
