Default Need help testing an experimental vista fix.

    Hello everyone,

I'm doing some experiments for a Vista work around. It involves installing some extra software but initial testing show some promise.

Please contact me by IM or email should you be willing to help me in testing. should this work for others I'll post instructions on the forums.

    Take care,
    Tsargoth

P.S. You will need an XP install CD for this.

heehee i would be very interesting in testing, t - if i had a xp install disk!!

if you get a prospective cure that does not require a xp disk, let me know!! got a puter all ready to try it!

Opps. Thought I fixed that... this isn't so much a fix as it is a stupid work around. Expect some graphic glitches but it looks like it will work. Someone that needed to reboot 40+ times can now get it to run on the first try...

I'll send you a PM with the details

just starting the process - downloading the software - now...

watch this space and bear in mind that NONE of the previous options worked at all, regardless of how many times i rebooted

Okay here's the idea. It's stupid but my initial test show some promise.

Download the trial of VMware from here - https://www.vmware.com/tryvmware/?p=workstation-w

It's 30 days free and after doing the initial OS setup on VMware you can use VMWare player to run files you created with the trial above. So you don't have to pay anything. You can get the player here but it's won't be needed until the very end - http://www.vmware.com/download/player/

Once VMware is installed you need to create a virtual machine on install XP on it. As it's virtual hardware there won't be any trouble finding drivers.

Now once thats done you need to enable 'experimental' Direct3D on VMware. You can do that using the instructions here - http://www.vmware.com/support/ws5/do...sound_d3d.html

Finally install Horizons / Istaria into the virtual XP machine. When I tested this it worked on the virtual hardware. The others that have tested reported graphic glitches but it has been working.

Should you decide to try this out please let me know the results

    Take care,
    Tsargoth
