    Default .net errors

I haven't played HZ for about 2 or 3 weeks now, but I tried just now through my Windows dual boot. Now I'm recieving the following error when trying to long in with either the stand alone launcher or web launcher when running windows 2000 Professional:

Disableing the .net patcher fro mthe web yields a different error:

"Failure: "I:\Program Files (x86)\Games\Horizons\horizons.exe" could not be started. The system cannot find the file specified. Pleas contact support by logging into support.istaria.com for asssistance."

Hmm, it would appear to me that horizans.exe has been named istaria.exe. It wasn't untill I renamed istaria.exe to horizons.exe that the game repatched and worked properly. Seems there is a testing flaw here.

Launcher.exe will attempt to run istaria.exe if it's present, instead of horizons.exe.
The old web launcher does not have the same logic and will only look for horizons.exe.

I'm somewhat interested in why launcher.exe doesn't work.

    Code:
System.IO.FileNotFoundException: File or assembly name Patcher, or one of its dependencies, was not found.
    File name: "Patcher"
    ...
LOG: Attempting download of new URL file:///I:/Program Files (x86)/Games/Horizons/Launcher/Patcher/Patcher.DLL.
Those two lines make me think that you're missing patcher.dll. Do you have it in the same directory as launcher.exe? If not the question then becomes "why is patcher.dll missing?".

From the sounds of it, they are using an existing link to horizonslauncher.exe rather than launcher.exe

edit: or trying to run launcher.exe after patching up to live ... I probably should have renamed silentpatcher.exe as well to eliminate all potential conflicts ... but that should go away soon anyway once the next version of the launcher is released and pushed to *both* shards' master file lists. :P

Downloaded the new launcher, getting a Compiler Demo error when running from the installed desktop link.

Now I'm getting the following error:

    Edit:
Oh and the patcher is right where it's supposed to be to my knowledge, it doesn't show it, but this is on the D: drive:

I'm getting the same issue - patcher.dll is missing. Exactly the same dialogue box as Callak. I have my installation on d:\games\Horizons if that helps at all... Vista Ultimate.

Did you try logging in to a live shard after patching to blight? If so, try removing the slientpatcher.exe from the root and \launcher folders, and going through the non-activex patcher from the website.

I got the same error like Callak. I downloaded the new launcher setup and installed it over my old Horizons directory. After starting the game via the new game icon, I got the same error: "Patcher.dll could not be found" and I had to kill the "SilentPatcher" process manually.

I repeated everything while deleting launcher directory first. But same result.

I even renamed my "Horizons" directory to "Istaria", but that didn't help either.

    Any suggestions?
Or do I have to install the whole game again?

I had this error a few days ago ( http://community.istaria.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=20571 ) when I was using the desktop shortcut (internet shortcut type) created by the launcher upgrade. Using the launcher directly from the folder didn't give this error.

However, they seem to have changed something with the launcher upgrade 2 days ago: it now creates a new desktop shortcut (regular shortcut type) that doesn't lead to this error window.
I suggest you to download the launcher upgrade again to be sure to have the latest version of the installer and use it again.

A last thing: if you game folder is called Horizons, the launcher upgrade usually adds an \Istaria at the end of the folder path name: just delete this \Istaria to not get an error.

I think the most recent version of the launcher is 1.8, if that helps.

Thanks, Firebrand. That was exactly the problem.
The shortcut on Desktop didn't work, but the one from Start menu worked.

I now downloaded the latest version, and even though the game didn't start, I receved no compiler demo error. So I'm assuming the launcher worked. Now just waiting for the Vista client to make it to Order.
