Thread: New Consigner - Lady Brianna the Basic Consigner

Default New Consigner - Lady Brianna the Basic Consigner

OK this idea is based on comments on the forum where we want to have a supply of goods available to players (particularly new players) but keeping them stocked up is a pain because unsold items get sent to your vault, so you are constantly visiting NT connie to restock.

We have Sir Aidan the Reasonable who specialises in tech components, can we have a connie that only accepts a certain number (10? 20? 30?) un-teched armor/weapons/tools/spells that would not return items to your vault, or at least not for a longer period? That way players could keep that connie well-stocked with items for T1 and T2 players (after that level I'm assuming most want to start getting items teched anyway? any thoughts on this?) without having to move things from their vault and back again.

Why unteched? Reduces the maximum number of items available on the connie listings.

Why a limit on number of items? Because we really don't need a spammed connie with 10,000 bronze short-swords.

What if there is already x items and I can't add more? Make something else or use a "normal" connie.

Should the prices be fixed based on tier? Possibly, yes. 500c T1, 1s T2. That would stop people "controlling" the connie by filling it up with fixed-cost items that no-one can afford. This connie would be "non-competitive" i.e. it is a service to our fellow Istarians. Normal connies are where the haggling happens

Also if this wasn't taking away from your consigned item tally as well.

Might save people from having to spam chat channels for help and getting disappointed in the game because they can't get the next level of gear when they need it.

Don't know if this is possible in-game, just putting it out there...

To ensure a constant supply of unteched items needed at a limited price sounds much like the refurbished gear sold on New Trismus. I like the idea of expanding something like it to all tiers, to save hassle on players already in high demand from making additional tiers' worth of items. Only items which cannot be tech'd (cargo disks, backpacks, are there others?) would be considered fairly equivalent; all others would be considered lesser simply for lack of techs but at least would be available.

Yes, that's where I got the idea from, the refurbished items available in-game. We do still want players to craft items whenever possible, but we don't want to discourage people from playing because they can't get the next set of kit they need. IMHO of course

How about all imperial connies never return items to vaults , the items stay until sold, the player removes them or the account expires.

Probably be an impact on the game system. Could literally be 10s-100s of thousands of items stored there if nothing was ever removed.

So, it is recognized that there is a problem in being able to obtain at least very basic gear, weapons, and tools without having to beg other players constantly every time you gain a few levels.

    This is good.

Now, what do we do about it?

I don't think allowing infinite consigning is going to do it... as someone mentioned, I don't know if they want that much database load when you have all of those items that never disappear.

Instead of doing that, how about we take an alternative route?

Tweak the Token and IBM system, IMO.

Right now, you get IBMs from just about anything. It always struck me as odd that Imperial Bounty Markers are used for Crafting techs.

That just doesn't make sense, does it?

Let's make it so that IBMs are used to purchase unteched adventuring gear. Slowly scale the cost with tiers and half-tiers. For example...

    Iron Ringmail: 2 IBM
    Iron Scalemail: 3 IBM
    Iron Chainmail: 4 IBM
    Iron Platemail: 5 IBM

    Cobalt Ringmail: 6 IBM
    Cobalt Scalemail: 7 IBM
    Cobalt Chainmail: 8 IBM
    Cobalt Platemail: 9 IBM

And this would be per piece. Amassing some 40, 50+ IBMs for a full suit of armor would still take some time to obtain, and in the meantime, they could ask crafters for armor to shorten the grind, or obtained tech'd pieces of armor, especially as you get up in levels, where techs become more important.

So, that leaves the question, "What about Techniques?"

To that, I say, use Beginner and Jman Lore Tokens. 5 tokens per. Beginner Tokens buy I-II, Jmans buy III-IV. V is drop-only.

That way, Adventurers have an *option* to obtain their own weapons and armor (you could do this with spells too!), and there's still incentive for the adventurers to craft or seek crafters. People would have a reason to sell IBMs on the consigners again.
