Searches can always use improvement, greatly on accuracy.
Mostly when searching something Local, like in my town or even Country and get results from 1/2 way around the world.

I generally don't. I have a better IM elsewhere, I have better personals elsewhere, I have better searching elsewhere. I have a YIM and personals account, but rarely even check them. Their music site is horrible for music selection.

First off, focus on one product at a time. Each offering I've seen has very little reason to be used.

For example, music has so many ads for the "free" account, plus even when a particular genre is marked as "don't play", it still gets played. Oh, wait. I forgot, they switched their basic player company so you now can't edit your own station preferences so you're stuck with any garbage they want to spin up.

Personals side is so impersonal with their questions that you don't get to know much of anything about the person, much less contact them. Free accounts get to send one icebreaker, but the recipient can't reply to it with anything substantial UNLESS they upgrade and pay a monthly fee.

Instant messenger is lackluster. While it allows for video and voice chat, neither feature means much when one has no microphone or camera. Profiles within the messenger have been hamstrung to not include any personal data one may wish to share (interests, likes, dislikes, even photos are an effort to put up). Yet, plenty of places for information a person may NOT wish to share (for example, how many people want complete strangers to have home, work, and cell phone numbers for the taking?).

The main page of yahoo.com is so overwrought with ads and links the site appears unmanaged and agglomerated. Customization does little to solve this.

To be honest, I didn't even know yahoo HAD a search engine other than one of the myriad virus-ish toolbars they attempt to sneak into web browsers upon installation of other programs (said toolbars must be opted OUT since by default, they're going to install them when you don't want them).
