Thread: settle an argument, please - rite requirements

Default settle an argument, please - rite requirements

someone recently insisted the rite requirements were lowered at one point to level 20 adventure, and that his dragon ascended at 22 adv, 25 craft (lunus). can people please help settle this? been here since dec.12, 2003, and since the rite went live mar.18, 2004, i swear the requirements have always been 30 adv/20 craft with 250K hoard to begin the rite.

    Yup.. you got it.

    Lunus is 30/20 with 250k.
    Helian 30/40 with 250k.

But can it even be finished at those lvls? Not that I know of.
Had to get lunus to 30/30 with teched scales to finish the mirror/statue.

Just a little drunk dwarven bi-ped wreaking havoc in chaos.

there are not separate requirements to start the rite for helian and lunus. you don't even decide your route 'til after you start it.

30ADV, 20CRA, 250K hoard is what it's been the entire time I played.

Now, Mallenoreon Atrinoch - a character I helped progress to Adulthood - is a level 45ADV, level 22CRA Lunus adult.

I believe dragon and biped buffs, crafting scales, potions, and T6 machines will allow a hatchling seeking Loonusness to accomplish it at crafting 20, yes.

starting requirements are the question, not ending.

Seems we all are guesing here.

Any friendly dev here , who could look into it and let us know?

Edit: Karane (on Blight) should be able to tell us now.
    (see newest blightpatch notes).
So whoever has a hatchie on Blight can find out.

what the requirements are now is helpful, but the real question is have they ever been reduced below 30/20. the person i was talking to insisted they ascended at 22 adv 25 craft back in 2004.

Both ROP's used to be start-able at 20 adventure, 20 craft and 250k hoard (since ROP was put into the game).

I'm a bit out of synch with what the current starting requirements are now (except that 30 days character age with the new blight patch)

I remember when the rites first went in. I don't recall that you could get the quest at lv20 adventure. I really think the fella was telling a very tall tale to Dorrin.

If I have time later tonight I have a baby hatchling on Blight that might have gotten to lv20 at the festival crypt to wear the head scale. I'll try to remember to login and go talk to Karane. I'm sure that hatchling is a few years old at least so the 30 days wouldn't be a problem.

Yea I could have bet my wings that even on the first day you HAD to have 30 adventure to start. No way you could have fudged the adventurer lower; even though you can fudge with the crafting.

But maybe you could start it at 20 and you had to be 30 to finish a last quest or something?

Cuz I totally soildly remember 30 adventure being the requirement.

i remember cringing every time i saw a level 31/32 adult, but i never recall ever seeing anything below level 30.

it'd be nice if a dev would speak up about this, if they know.

I'm absolutely certain that the rite ADV requirement in 2004 was 30 - I remember being VERY upset about it, because I was basically a pure crafter (42 CRA when I started!), and needed quite a bit of help to get to level 30 ADV in order to do the rite.

You cannot start before 30. I know because I have a level 30 and it was very tricky to keep it that way the entire rite.

    *hack cough hack* Sorry Hairball!

    2004? ROP?

Ok, I won't even touch the lvl requirements to start. I'll
focus on the year ROP was introduced.

2004? - NOPE. 2003 was launch right? IIRC the Rites
of Ascension took HZ (Under Bowman and original team of Devs)
almost 2 full years to implement. When the Rites finally made
it live, there were many level 100 Hatchlings running around.
(I know of a handful from Spirit) A few of them were outraged
that the ROP wasn't a Solo event.

*hands Dorrin a block of salt* My friend, I suspect someone was
    spinning you a Fantasy.

Sorry correcting what I originally said, it was 30 adventure starting requirement, the 20 was for crafting.

Original announcement post made at the time in 2004

That announcement was made while testing was ongoing on Blight. One of the commenters on a later page said something about being in line for the RoP when it arrived. However, I did find a post in November 2004 talking about Karane being missing from RoP on live, so at least part of it was out then...

Also now requires the hatchling to have been created at least 30 days. I still think the craft level minimum should be raised to at least 30, too many go out there at 20 craft, and can barely if at all craft the needed items. Sire buffs/scales/T6 machines help, but a hatchling should be able to do the crafting part on their own, well minus the making of the obsidian/granite bricks. XD
But that`s just my opinion. :P
