I was around in the rift and did was a Researcher does best... researching!

I wonderes whats under the rift and... well...

Interestingly enough the landscape looks like the parts of the Doom Cave one cannot reach (to be seen here at the Doom Map).

Simply the default landscape (grass). Any land in Istaria looks like that until it is altered to something else.

Kinda odd there's bumps and such instead of a perfectly flat land, though. And the bumps share the same pattern as the bumps outside of the Doom is what I think the OP was referring to.

Not really odd. One of the easiest ways to start a new chunk of land is to copy an existing one. That's probably what happened here.
