Thread: Shops and Anvils

    Default Shops and Anvils

I have never understood why both the Tinkerer and Blacksmith shops have Anvils. This is the only cross over or dual machine in different shops.

My suggestion is to do away with the Tinkerer shop and have a stand alone Tinkering Workbench.

Or include the Workbench inside the Blacksmith shop.

Do the anvils in Tinkerer shops even work? I know you need the tinkering bench to make tinkering components such as gears and struts. It makes me wonder why anvils were ever put in a tinkering shop.

I think it would be kind of neat to include one of the only-stand-alone machines (i.e., the old pottery kiln, a mill, or the newer paper press) in the tinkering shop instead, though I'm not sure in lore terms why they would be there. It would make more sense to have 2 machines in each shop; perhaps have the kiln in with the mill and the paper press in with the tinkering bench?

While I agree it is the only cross-over between shops, from a crafter-class standpoint it makes sense as the tinker makes disks as well as TOOLS - the latter requiring the use of an Anvil.

Essence tools do not use an anvil to make. Tinkerers also have earthencraft skill and the pottery wheel/kiln needs a home.

They have anvils so you can walk in with your bars, make your gears, springs, struts, and hinges. Then turn and make what you are tinkering at the bench.

This. With silos of refined resources, this shop compliments well.
