Lightbulb New dragon schools? No no, they're old, very old!

    Hello everyone,

yesterday I made a crosscheck between all files in my Istaria folder and all files listed in the master file list from the patcher. My goal was to find all remnant files which aren't used anymore.

I found (beneath others, e.g. old map files from NT and such) some very interesting remnant files dating back to 2003 and 2009:
    resources\interface\tutorials\DragonAdventurer.def
    resources\interface\tutorials\DragonCleric.def
    resources\interface\tutorials\DragonCrafter.def
    resources\interface\tutorials\DragonEnter.def
    resources\interface\tutorials\DragonMage.def
    resources\interface\tutorials\DragonScalecrafter.d ef
    resources\interface\tutorials\DragonScholar.def
    resources\interface\tutorials\DragonWarrior.def

To show you some of the contents:
string Text = "The chamber ahead is the Dragon Adventurer Hall. Greet Ferandantalus, the Dragon Adventurer Trainer, and it will teach you the ways of melee combat."
string Text = "The chamber ahead is the Dragon Cleric Hall. Greet Graffendial the Dragon Cleric Master, and it will teach you the healing arts. Only a Dragon may become a Dragon Cleric."
string Text = "The chamber ahead is the Hall of the Dragon Crafter. Greet Jezerinna, the Dragon Crafter Trainer, and it will teach you how to craft mineral resources into magical Dragon scales."
string Text = "Ahead lies the training hall for Dragons. If you are not a Dragon, you should visit the training hall across the way."
string Text = "The chamber ahead is the Dragon Mage Hall. Greet Aeron, the Dragon Mage Trainer, and it will teach you the ways of Dragon magic. Only a Dragon may become a Dragon Mage."
string Text = "The chamber ahead is the Hall of the Dragon Scalecrafter. Greet Jezerinna, the Scalecrafter Trainer, and it will teach you how to craft mineral resources into magical Dragon scales. Only Dragons can become Dragon Scalecrafters."
string Text = "The chamber ahead is the Hall of the Dragon Scholar. Greet Braughlin, the Dragon Scholar Trainer, and it will teach you how a Dragon makes magic spells. Only Dragons may become Dragon Scholars."
string Text = "The chamber ahead is the Dragon Warrior Hall. Greet Ferandantalus, the Dragon Warrior Trainer, and it will teach you the ways of melee combat. Only Dragons may become Dragon Warriors."
So even back then in 2003 they thought about other schools for dragons, isn't that nice?

Dragons, in beta, actually began with schools. However, they were exact copies of biped schools. i.e. Dragon Warrior was the same as Biped Warrior. Late in beta they decided that they wanted Dragons to be different and so they created the current Dragon school and removed the old Dragon schools.

He was being facetious. That's coordinates to Forbidden Isle. A location that can't be reached by players; GM/Dev can go there. Retired/Obsolete NPC's live there. I can /slap emote any obsolete NPC you'd like, for a mere 500s per slap. For an extra 50s, I'll send you a PM with their response to said slap (think of old Western Union Telegraph). Ouch... Stop... Doh'

Actually, I would like to see what a dragon's take on these schools would be, factoring in the differences in anatomy and fighting styles. For fun, let's see a concept of you can come up with that would play like a Warrior, but still show the distinction between dragons and bipeds.

Go play a Human Warrior, you'll see what its like. The actual schools (dragon_warrior, etc) don't exist any longer. No plans to re-add them... check out the Dragon multi-school threads for discussion on that.

That's really not what I meant by that at all. I mean, if you were to create a dragon school with the same melee-centric focus that Warrior has, but still maintain that distinction between dragons and bipeds in terms of abilities, how would you design it?
