    Default HZ Confectioner website?

    Hi folks

I am still not playing, sadly, due to lack of time, but I've just had notification that the hzconfectioner.org.uk website is needing renewing.

Is it still useful and/or up to date enough that people use it?

I know I haven't updated it in years - and as I don't play, I'm unlikely to be able to - unless people want to send me updates.. however I'm willing to keep it up and running so long as people find it handy.

Thoughts please? (I have until the end of March to renew)

I know I still use it myself to get a quick overview of those hidden quests, but there's definately been some changes to confectioner over the past few years.

I find the site quite useful just as it is. I refer new confectioners to it as a matter of routine.

I see people mentioning the site all the time. It is a confectioner's best friend, still King.

The site has been temporarily suspended by my webhosts as it appears that someone hacked in and has been using it to send bank "phishing" emails despite no email functionality in the site.

    We're investigating!

The problem is I haven't even used the software to make the site in donkey's years and wouldn't have a clue how I did it. The database is in SQLserver (not MySQL) and I don't have that on my computer any more either...

Once I get access back to the site I will see what I can do to work out what I did and perhaps change it to MySQL and an easier to use front end.

    back up and running.

I need to try to work out how to view the DB and some nice easy to use web design software so I can write some pretty stuff (well, pretty is not so vital, but functionality is). If anyone is a web developer and can offer a little advice, I'd be very happy to listen

I'm still not playing (one of these days I might be back though).

However, we're having to move hosts, and hzconfectioner was written in .net, the DB was on MSSQL. We no longer have a licence for MSSQL so can't back it up, and I've not used .net for donkeys years.

I suspect that it isn't that useful any more anyway, and I kept it renewed (even after saying I wasn't going to renew in 2016 - it's now 7 years later, and I think I've done what I could.

So I'm really sorry if anyone *was* still using it, but we literally can't back it up and we've moved our servers. Once the move is done, the site will be down for good.

I hope you're all still having fun in Istaria!

Have to admit I created myself a local copy with a Webcrawler, just to keep the nostalgia. Just 9MB in size when zipped.
