Mask techs

I adore wearing fall festival masks, but it always sucks when I forget to swap out before fighting tougher enemies. It'd be nice to be able to wear them without having to sacrifice stats for it, and a friend suggested perhaps making all of the masks into techs. It'd be like with dyes, where you drag them on and they don't take up any of your tech slots.

A few masks actually do that already. Well, "masks" - there's a few loyalty techs for scales that apply the mask texture when you equip the scale. So it's certainly possible

A similar idea, one that's in some other mmos, would be a costume/transmog system for all types of armor.
This would apply to things like the social clothing for bipeds, and regular armor as well. So, for instance you could wear one piece of armor, but put an aesthetic over top of it.
Might even work for shoulder pets?
