Make sure you have the aura of the forgotten, from the npc you got the quest from. If you don't, you can't loot the memories.

Faded Souls aren't dropping memories because the quest is actually pointing you to the wrong mob... everything is set up for Forgotten Souls, which are south of the Tower of Healing, not Faded. However, the quest has other ideas. Fixed for 293. For now, hunt down the Forgotten SoulsOriginally Posted by Gimbold
As for the counter, I had sworn this was fixed already but I took a look anyway and apparently it was never corrected. My apologies, it says 12 now.
