Default The fool behind the Fool...

Elders and wise, wise ones and fair - greetings .
Some time ago (to spare my and another's blushes I won't say how long ), a dragon called Sephiranoth was digging gems in the lava tube on Fire Island. There was someone else in the tube, and they came up to Sephi and the two of them got talking. The other (Sonea Finder) had heard of Sephi's backstory, and wondered if the two of them could come up with something for Sonea. Just, do yyou see, maybe a page or so.
Heh - the longest road starts with a single step . That page or two became three or four, and those three or four became regular 'fireside chats' where new additions were read in game to anyone who cared to come by and listen. And those fireside chats? Well, it took nearly four years, but the first book to come out of Istaria was published by Rick et al. THUNDER AND LIGHTNING - STORM RISE, STORM WAKING.
It was the first book on the street with my name (and my co-author's name) on the cover.
The world's winds took me away from Istaria in time (though I'm back now ). But they didn't take me away from words. Now there are other books on the street, both electronic and paper, with my names on the covers. I have two pen names, one for my 'main street' work (currently I'm released by both MUSEITUP PUBLISHING and BOOKS WE LOVE PUBLISHING) and one for my self-published work. Why both? Well, a self-pub pen name let's me work on cover design (my Indie publishers have their own cover Artists for those works), and also, being totally honest, experiment in 'other' genres. Yes, without going into details, some of those experiments involve heat and spice of various forms, but have also led to my first audiobook (a long story in itself), so it's not all blushing embarrassment, I hope .
So what do I write? Well, here's my mainstreet me:

    www.graeme-smith.net

It's fantasy - comic fantasy if you laugh when you read it . Because I think humour is a little unusual. You can;t write it, because the smiles come from within the reader's personality and history, not the writer's. But I'll hope for the smiles, and write the fantasy. That name has:

A COMEDY OF TERRORS (the sequel to this - A NOT SUMMER NIGHT'S SCREAM - is nearly through first draft)
JACK SHADOW (Shadow Dance Book 1)
SHADOW CHILD (Shadow Dance Book 2)
ROAD LIKE A RIVER (The Long Road Book 1)

Tatter Jack is my self-pub name. As I said - if anyone wants to look at Tatter's work, advance warning. There are various ranges of, um, 'blushes' there. He started in an author group where we were talking about a recently released book that wasn't black or white, but, um, somewhere in between . Opinions were. to say the least, varied. Someone said 'hey Graeme! _You_ could write better than that!'. Someone called Graeme said 'dinnae be sae daft! It's no ma' thing at a', de ye see?'. Someone else said 'Bugger off. Of course you could!'
Sigh. I have a real problem with challenges - mostly in ignoring them .
Tatter Jack has a number of micro-short collections, but also

    JOURNEY'S END
BORN YESTERDAY (also an audiobook, narrated by the amazing Eve Elliott). And if you listen closely, you might even hear echoes of the Thunder and Lightning in this one...

Oh - and you remember that first cover? Well, it's likely to take a while, but after discussions with a very generous Rick, and his agreement to transfer the copyright and a right to use Istari IP, THUNDER AND LIGHTNING might well be turning into an ebook as well. And who knows - in time there may even be sequels!
So there you are - or rather, here we are. This is me - Graeme Smith. Or even two of me . Time was, I worked on apsychiatric ward. Now I write about people who believe in magic and dragons, and who live where the crazy folk are the ones who don’t. Come on by!

When the pyhsiker spoke of diets, I trow she didn't seek to leave that little meat to my bones!

Ah! Sephiranoth, long hast thy melodious song from thy tongue been silent! Ae dost warm iea to hear thou sing ae anew within Istaria and long hast thy story and word given iea thought and pause of much for mine growth. Iea gladly welcome thy 'foolish' word to grace ien anew, a'na. Mine eagerness to speak with thee in world again hast blossomed anew!
