The new official map is great. Its a vast improvement over the last version loading quickly and with better looking colors.

The only problem with it for me is that the map is too washed out, with a little too much white present. The washed out look makes it hard to see the white map markers due to the lack of contrast. I wished there was a gamma correction that would allow me to adjust the map brightness while leaving the map markers at full brightness.

Frotunately, I discovered that there is!

Here's how to do it:
1. Right click on the map and select "properties".
2. Move the transparency slider till it is about 1/3 of the way from the left side. The map will darken, but still stay opaque for all practical purposes (unless you move the slider too far to the right at which point it becomes too transparent). The map markers remain at full brightness.
