    Default Suction Cup Carnage

Content Item Name Suction Cup Carnage I had also mentioned this idea in IRC chat, as user Larch previously. Suggestion Purpose/Aim A player based competition as distraction from the horror of war. A beautiful show off bow is the prize that can be mounted on a wall (eventually). Target Players Any biped or kuhit who wished to be involved. Quick Description Contestants play against each other in a 'Paintball' style competition. Detailed Description Competition is run at regular intervals and announced globally via messaging system, possibly to a dedicated event chat channel. The competition should stay active for a few days, to distribute the availability of it to players who only get a chance to play Horizons at irregular hours and days. Perhaps every 17, 33 or 42 days or so. This competition is hosted by NPC Elves, and came from an Elvish game to train youngsters. A dedicated 'arena' area, like the canyon maze at the Tower of Healing, or a tall walled maze built from stone, build underground like Augandel, is the location for this event. The reason it should be underground is to prevent cameras from being moved above the playing area to 'see around' corners. Speaking to the NPC organizer inside the arena entrance will give you a link to the rules and instructions, and the option to purchase a ?Crystal of teleporting?, that can be used to teleport the player directly to the playing arena from anywhere in game. Once you have purchased one of these crystals you go into a game queue, and will be notified when there is a vacancy to play. Online players have five minutes to respond to this request, or the crystal is deleted, your money refunded, and your place in the queue lost. Alternatively there could be a system that allows the player to forfeit their place and re-enter the queue from the end if they are busy. Once you teleport to the arena, you can trade the crystal back to the NPC and get one of the ?special? bows and a quiver of (50) special arrows. The bow and arrows are on a 10 minute timer from the start of the contest, and will vanish when the timer is up. If a contestant leaves the playing arena, the bow and arrows will be deleted as well. Money will not be refunded if the round has commenced and a player leaves the arena. These bows and arrows are large and brightly coloured.
A round will be started when there is no less that 5 players, and each round will have no more than 20 players (these numbers should be balanced out depending on the size of the arena). There is a 15 second warning that the round is starting to give players a chance to disperse. Hits will not register during this 15 second period. The arrows have large suction cups on them and are designed to stick for 30 seconds then vanish. Each time a player is hit by an arrow, a quest counter is incremented. At the end of a round, the player with the lowest hit counter is declared the winner, and announced in the ?Event Chat Chanel? so the world can see their glory. If a player stays within a 10 metre area for more than 10 seconds during a round, a ?root? spell will pin them to their location, disable their shooting ability, and play a loud goat ?bleating? sound, and the players bow will light up to alert other players that a camper has been trapped. The root spell will stay in effect for 15 seconds. The winner will receive half of the rounds crystal sales, and a pretty Emerald Bow, that is massive in size, but nothing special in terms of hunting. It will make a lovely house decoration though and be wall mountable. This item will be tradeable/consignable. Implementation There may be some need to prevent the /follow command. The organizing NPC will enchant a player at the start of the round to dispel all buffs and hard set the players run speed to 75. The ?Sprint? button will function as normal. This enchantment will dispel upon leaving the arena, or at the end of the round. Code exists for bows and arrows, and arrows sticking out of characters. Bows make a loud ?Twangangang? sound when fired, and arrows make a satisfying ?ThththhtWUP? sound when they hit a player. Players may not be in groups (in this version) due to the need to keep a queue system moving and group member direction arrows. Player spells would have to be deactivated, or a 'cheat' detector could eject casters from the playing field.
