    Default Event blurbs

Each post below will have the lore posted with each event. The information is taken from the events page on community.istaria.com.

I've reposted it here in the hopes that it will be easier to read and to allow members of our community to "catch-up" on the storyline.

Events are posted in order by date, oldest to newest is how I went. I added some info at the bottom of each post that included what quests or new items were introduced when I remembered them.

The Imperial Heralds have been dispatched to the starting Islands to evaluate the large amounts of Gifted that have been showing up recently. This new flow of Gifted into the world has the potential to shift the tides of war in the Empire?s favor. In order to fully evaluate the potential of these Gifted, and to teach them what the Empire has learned so far of the Gifted, there have been tests set up around the Starting Isles.

Ten years have passed since Ryson Stormbringer gave the ultimate sacrifice at the Battle of Tazoon, turning the tide of the war from an almost sure defeat. His sacrifice presented the Living Races of a gift so profound it would rival even the power of gods. This power has empowered the Living Races to shape their destiny and gain the upper hand for the decade that followed. This festival celebrates the Tazoon victory on the very day it occurred 10 years ago.

Rumors have begun floating throughout the cities, and the townsfolk have become both curious and scared. The Empire had sent off large expeditions with military escort, eastward on a secretive mission. Some of the townspeople that are in the know think the expedition involved some type of great discovery or finding but no one knows for sure.

The expedition still has not been found, and a family member of one of the members of the expedition has become very worried. It?s not common to have zero communication from any member of the expedition for so long. Rumors of battle are beginning to spread and an unknown enemy is among these whispers. The raw power necessary to control this unknown enemy shows just how far the Withered Aegis can reach. It is still not known if the Living Races are able to produce the united front necessary to meet this challenge.

The Empire was hoping to keep the oncoming threat of the Satyr army quiet, and solve the problem with a small expedition. The expedition has now failed, and players must find the source of the resources the Empire needs to free the Satyrs. Many enslaved Satyrs have been pouring into the western side of Wedge, and forming up to guard the caves that lead to the power source. These Satyrs have been forming patrols as well as guarding the areas surrounding the caves? or becoming a menace in less suspecting regions.

Start of the freeing of the Satyrs. There were four tunnels, "mines", needing to the satyr islands that needed to be rebuilt.

Torabel the Researcher appears in Kirasanct to provide some additional details. Once the tunnels are rebuilt, crafters need to take the ore and slabs to Torabel to learn how to help in freeing the Satyrs.

Some of the Withered Aegis? Lieutenants have gone renegade. Should the Withered Aegis learn of their folly in letting the location of the Satyr caves be discovered, it would mean certain doom to the Lieutenants. In an effort to prevent the Living Races from learning more, the Lieutenants have ordered heavy patrols around the Satyr caves to disrupt the mining operation and potential freeing of the Satyr. Major forces have been seen gathering for a full assault on frontier towns. Without stomping out the Living Races the threat to the continued subjugation of the Satyr is at jeopardy. Rumors have abounded that the Lieutenants themselves are leading these forces.

Continuing to rebuild the mines. Attacks on the crafters have become more intense and the need for protectors to hold the tunnel mouths move obvious with the more crafters that were involved.

Furthering Torablel's research by bringing her 1 of each silver ore/slate slab from each island (access gained via completed tunnels) brings access to the forms for the talismans/scales needed to free the satyrs. Monks were unable to participate in the defeating of the machine as the talismans were weapon crystals and hand wraps were not yet available.

The massive machines that needed defeated took a skilled group (or groups) to tackle each machine, as the machine has a massive amount of health and there were lots and lots of satyrs (living and dead) under the control of the WA attempting to stop you. The machines also healed themselves.

Eventually the difficult in killing the machines was decreased. The theory at the time was so that slower/younger shards could catch up with the older/more populated shards. I know on Bounty we just didn't have the high level adventurer population we needed at the time of the first tunnel freeing.

The scale and talisman forms forRevelry/Feast/Dance/Melody are still available.

The Withered Aegis have shown their might in their latest attacks on the Frontier towns. Now their eye has focused on another goal, one a bit closer to home. A stronger Enemy emerges with a determination not to be deterred. It is rumored none will survive this attack. Meanwhile, in Exiled Feladan an individual has come forth, speaking of half-truths and riddles. It seems as though a movement is taking place, one that may free the Elven city of Feladan from the clutches of the Blight.

Building on the Empire?s previous victory, the Empire continues its military success with a push towards Feladan. Imperial researchers have discovered that the ?blight? surrounding Feladan is different than the normal blight they have encountered before. The ?blight? appears to be a manifestation of monster entities that have been given the task of preventing the people of Istaria from liberating Feladan. The Imperial researchers seem to have stumbled along a theory that some kind of machine could be used to turn this blight into monster form and once in monster form the blight can be in theory removed from Feladan.

The Elves continue to clamor for the liberation of their homeland. How many adventurers can they rally to their cause? The woods continue to teem with swarms of spiders and troops of ogres, skeletons, and other horrors. What intrepid crafters are willing to risk life and limb to venture into the haunted forest and construct the arcane devices that will coalesce the essence of blight into a physical form? Rumors have surfaced that the ruins of Feladan contain ancient Elven lore that outlines advanced martial styles not seen in Istaria for many years. Untold power surely awaits those who take up the fight and rescue the texts from the grip of the Withered Aegis!

With the impending destruction of Feladan?s blighted guardians, a final ?gift? from the Wraiths is discovered - a contagious disease, which sweeps through the ranks of the Living Races. Luckily, Dragons find themselves immune to the disease, and the more charitable among them race to find a cure. The elders speak of a similar infection that had occurred previously in the Empire's past and of a cure that was found to immunize all races, not just Dragons. Unfortunately, all details of this cure have either been lost to the sands of time...or perished with those who thought they had cured it. Will this cure be found in time to prevent the demise of the Living Races, or will the undead hordes have the final laugh?

The disease unleashed upon Feladan has caused disruption in the ranks of the Living Races. All but Dragons, who have been actively trying to cure this ailment, have been affected and are suffering from this highly contagious illness. Meanwhile, word comes from southwestern Aradoth that the undead have started sending troops westward, hoping to use the chaos as a distraction and to catch the Empire by surprise. The last attempt to take one of the towns met in failure at Aughundell. However, from the size of the forces amassing, it appears that the Undead hordes will be launching a sustained attack against one, or possibly many, of the cities. Can the Empire rally to fight both the disease and the assault, or will cities-or even the Empire itself-fall to the might of the Withered Aegis?

Exhausted and scattered, Imperial forces continue to fight for their lives as the Darkness closes in around them. With no time to celebrate their progress at Feladan, and with forces weakened by plague, all strong blades turn their efforts to the defense of the besieged Dalimond. However, just as the tides seem to turn, scout reports are heard of movement on the Northern Steppes. How long can the Gifted march to this non-stop drum of destruction?

Werewolves attack Dalimond. A quest forms for silver whistles and elm reeds was available from the cleric tower if you traded thema Fang Pendant. The silver whistle helps against any beast class and the reeds work similar torechargecells.

    Neither quest is still available.

When Feladan was completed the Scholar of Contagation needed 3 days (thiswas decreased to less than 24 hrs eventually) to develop apermanent cure for Zymosis Morbidae. On shards that completed the event earlier, they were ravaged by the disease for 3 days.

Blight researhers depart with the rebuilding of Feladan.

The quest for the permanet cure as well as the disease itself, did not survive the shard merge.

Many years ago, the portal from which the Lich King gained access to Istaria from the Realm of Blight had been sealed shut by the power of the Druids in the Tower of Nature. However, troubling news of increased undead activity in the Western Deadlands has led the Empire to a terrifying conclusion; the forces of the Wraith Master have been able to take advantage of the Druids' weakened state to unseal the portal and allow the skeletal armies to infest the region once again. The Druids have urgently dispatched emissaries to many of the Empire's towns in hopes of gaining assistance from the Gifted in defending their tower. Should the Tower of Nature fall, who knows what city may be next...

The mobs in the western deadlands just got 10x as hard to kill. Went from pale shamblers and tattered hounds to scary powerful undead knights and mages.

Druids in green armor entered the racial cities to ask for help. A quest to go speak with the Archmage at the druid tower entered the game. I think quests to help protect the tower also entered the game at this point.

New crystal drops also entered the game at this point (again I think)the crystals are powerful and mimic spell styles.

Over the course of history, there have been many disagreements and battles fought between the now united Living Races. Just how "united" are they, though? There are whispers throughout the Empire that amongst certain factions that there is still animosity and old grudges are being brought to a head. While the Empire squabbles amongst itself, the siege upon the Tower of Nature continues. The undead forces are being held back thanks to a gift from the Druids - the Dark Cyclone. However, no mere spell can hope to defeat the Withered Aegis' armies if the Empire is not united in its protection. Is this tension caused simply by the ever increasing threat of the Lich King's forces, or is there more to these rumors then a cursory glance would tell?

Druidic scholars, in need of assistance against the local undead menace, have decided it is time to call the Dryads back to the Prime. Years ago, the Dryads began to fear the extinction of their race at the skeletal hand of the Withered Aegis. They therefore retreated to the Realm of Nature by using a carefully nurtured tree of majestic proportion as a conduit. They left instructions for reopening this conduit scattered about the land in the form of cryptic clues. The druids were entrusted with the specific knowledge of rebuilding Nature?s Gate, the sole means of access to the island where the tree is located.

With the construction of Nature's Gate nearing completion, several Arboreal Wardens from the Tower of Nature have taken up their posts around the majestic tree on the strange, new island. Their task is to not only protect it from undead invasion, but also to prepare for the ritual: the ceremony that will call forth the Dryads back to the Prime and the realm of Istaria. Several strange beasts have started to appear around the landscape carrying rare trophies in the form of odd druidic wands and scrolls. With the discovery of several rather cryptic clues from unexpected sources, could these items have anything to do with the riddle that is currently keeping the Dryads from returning to lead the charge against the Lich King's forces?

    April 12, 2004
    ***

The strange beats also dropped body parts which were used to make special gear such as the Boar Hide Mask for adventurers. These items can no longer be made.

Much discusion is made of the clues presented by the scrolls and wands. Several clever players made databases to narrow down the options. Options were narrowed down to 7 by the time it came to do the ceremony.

The Arboreal Wardens have completed their preparations. They now await a hero who can deliver the five wands and five scrolls and, more importantly, deliver each item to the correct Warden. This must be done as part of the Ceremony of Aubadrine, named after the Dryad mystic who first used the tree to open the conduit to the Realm of Nature. The steps to perform this ceremony were well guarded to ensure that the Dryads were called back only for the appropriate reasons. Who will be the hero to perform this ceremony correctly and, more importantly, will it be in time to prevent the Lich King's forces from overrunning all of Istaria?

Even high in their volcanic lairs in Dralk, the Lunus Dragons are not safe from the predations of the Withered Aegis. Undead skirmishing parties, sent by the Lich King from the Deadlands, have been spotted sneaking into the burial grounds near the city to pilfer whatever remains they can uncover. Is this merely a blatant display of disrespect for the noble creatures, or is there some darker purpose behind this desecration? The Wardens are still frantically piecing together the clues for the ritual to recall the Dryads. Could this new Undead movement into the heart of the Lunus Dragon territory be a last ditch effort to halt this process, or is there something even more diabolical behind the Lich King's motives?

New mobs are introduced and with them come a way of getting new gear. Various items were dropped by the new mobs and could then be turned into NPCs to get forms.

These forms (using some of the dropped items) could then make new weapons of various levels. These weapons are had techs or abilities on them to make them more powerful. The drops to make the weapons left after the event ended but were reintroduced onto the Vielo for a while.

Also introduced are 3 dragon scale techs and 1 dragon spell tech. The event occurred for roughly a week and after that week the techs were no longer available.

It looks like Brysmendrik was right. Withered Aegis necromancers have found a way to animate the Dragon remains they recently absconded with. These terrifying monstrosities can be found roaming the Western Deadlands far to the south of Dralk. Is it possible that they carry ancient relics, brought with them from their violated tombs?
