Long before the Age of Lamentations, a tremendous Dwarven ale house and beer garden was erected in the mountains southwest of Aughundell. Tragically, when the undead hordes swept across the central plains, the Pickle was one of the first establishments to be razed. After years of disuse and neglect, the spirits of those massacred there have come back to haunt the place.

The wandering tribe of mystics and merchants who call themselves the Vielo have vanished just as mysteriously as they came. Reports are slowly being spread that they have appeared along the rarely traveled path south of Mahagra. These wanderers claim to be keepers of ancient wisdom and purveyors of rare merchandise. Their origins remain shrouded in mystery, although many believe they were ousted from their homeland by an evil more terrible than the Living Races have seen in decades. Whether or not these rumors are true, there is no doubt that the Vielo command powerful secrets of some kind, considering the extreme peril they must have traversed as they journeyed to the known regions of Aradoth. Head south from Mahagra if you wish to welcome these mysterious travelers to the area!

The Vielo are introduced and so, gradually are expert forms. New crystals in the line of the Western Deadlands drops can also be purchased (although they're rare).

Pieces needed for the ancient weapons are purchasable for a short time as well.

Afierce sandstorm has started up and is covering the entire Tazoon Desert. The blowing sands play havoc with the eyes and throats of those who trespass! Many unfortunates are now seeking shelter inside the Healer's tower, where they hope to wait out the storm. From the sandstorm emerges K'thoss bearing a strange artifact, and he claims that as -soon- as he 'found' this item, clouds of dust began to swirl and powerful gusts knocked him off his feet! The Healer Tower has confiscated the item in the hopes of finding out the cause of the sandstorm.

New quest to collect items for a researcher to free the stone people revealed. - No longer in game.

Enough items were collected to free the stone people where we found at that they were called in the town of Kaiyar and were from a time prior to Ashlander Vandus during the Age of Warrior-Kings.

This event also pre-cluded the merging of the varios shards.

Default Re: Event created lore - Escaping the Withered Aegis

There is no official posting of the shards merged but there was an event. I missed most of it but will post what I know.

The researachers, mostly dryad and satyr, were able to turn the stone people back to normal. Which woke up the evil dude who turned them into stone in the first place.

He woke up and his guards of evil (Magadi)and he also woke up an old priest out in the desert. The priest, from what I can tell, gave a quest to produce a weapon to help kill the evil dude. Blade of the Magadi.

Players had to kill the bad guy, his guards, and build a realm portal with the assistance of the Vielo. The bad guy and guards came back repeatedly while the building was in progress. The realm portal was built with the use of the ingenuity craft skill which was great cause it meant that regardless or your level or class you could help out in someway.

Those who helped to kill the bad guy also gotBriennaire's ring which has some bonus on it and, at the time, as worth 50k hoard. It is now worth 100 hoard.

Then theworld ended. Massive amounts of Withered Aegis began to move West decimating towns as they went.

The merge happened. New plots, new islands, new mobs, new friends

Default Re: Event created lore - Fall Harvest festival

Istaria now begins its annual Fall Harvest. Many scholars believe this season becomes enchanted and mystical as the Realm of Bounty, according to legend, aligns closely with the Realm of the Prime.

The belief states that when these two Realms align, the Realm of the Prime unlocks a planar passage that channels Bounty?s blessings across the lands of the Prime. These blessings compel the soil to produce rich harvests and rewards those Gifted toiling in the fields. As with many things Istarian, there is a dark side to this Blessing. This channel is known to admit more than just the blessings from the Realm of Bounty. Unworldly, mystical and ghoulish beings may use this channel to enter the Realm of the Prime. Discerning these malevolent side effects, the Prime?s Gifted developed customs to trick the invaders from entering or overstaying their welcome.

So on this day, the people of the Realm of the Prime believe it good luck to parade around the cities, fields, town and settlements wearing masks and costumes. It is their hope to deter these gruesome trespassers from taking an interest in them and their homes. The Empire promotes these activities, and encourages participation from both believers and non-believers. During the Fall Harvest, the Empire preserves tradition by passing out treats to those who join the masquerade. To encourage the beneficial features of the Harvest, and so that many may share in its blessings, Empire officials nicknamed Jacques Allantyrn are dispatched to the various racial cities.

Keep in mind that while the believers are searching for treats across Istaria, some non-believers, to have their own fun, are known to arrange capers, tricks and pranks on their property.

The event began with the introduction of the Fall decorations which could be created using the ingenuity craft skill. Plot owners decorated their plots for the season. Several guilds on the various shard planned parties. I know Emerald City of Chaos through a bash on Halloween!

Many a player scampered through town after town collecting candy to get the Halloween items. Pants and masks for the bipeds, VISIBLE masks for the dragons.

Also the introduction of Fall festival food forms, candied apples and pumpkin pie.

Encroaching upon Istaria are tendrils of Blight brought forth by the Withered Aegis. Who among the Gifted can prosecute these adversaries and release the lands these Blight Anchors infect? Caution is warned, the intensity of these Anchors reaches to the core of the Withered Aegis, who protect them fiercely. Is this a harbinger of war or a gambit for ultimate control?

Introduction of the blight anchors and the roving spawn they produce. Fairly nasty mobs.

Also introducted, blighted gear! Some nice stuff. Drops from blighted mobs andhas a variety of techs, some are nice and some aren't. Equipment can be deconstructed and used to build new versions which may have better techs, the forms drop randomly. There are scales for dragons, armor, weapons, and jewelry for bipeds.

Annually The Gifted commemorate Ryson Stormbringer's sacrifice at the Battle of Tazoon. The Winter Festival marks this occasion with celebrations that include beautiful firework displays, festive decorations and delicious seasonal delicacies. Just as life returns to Istaria after the longest day of Winter it is fitting that The Gifted also return to life to remember the heroes of the past and celebrate the many Istarian heroes yet to come.

    Winter festival decorations are added.

This years festival introduced many new foods and snowballs! Such new foods include beef pasty, gruok wurst, and bread bowl (there are a coupla others as well). Snowballs are a +8 health bonus that you can share with a friend. They can also be used to heal someone rapidly (gives a +30 per ball I believe).

There was also an NPC who, when give a raffle ticket, would produce something for you. Chances were it was salt rock or a snowball (depending on when you played) but you could get a form, tech, or tech comp.

As the celebration of the Winter Festival winds down, revelers have reported sightings of new tracks and shadowy figures appearing on the outskirts of several towns. Rumors of travelers disappearing from roads and livestock being slaughtered in the night are keeping the townsfolk on edge. A new sense of fear has gripped the Istarian cities and anxiousness is reaching a fevered pitch.

The Ancient Rite of Passage was intended to test the strength and courage, wisdom and insight of Drulkar's followers, allowing them to achieve the status of ancient dragon. From each of the four corners of Istaria, atop the heighest mountain ranges, Drulkar communed with the great winds and beheld the peace that once was. He knew Istaria better, perhaps, than the goddess who gave her name to it. He knew its darkest dangers, and most peaceful meadows, its deepest depths, and most soaring heights. Through the Rite of Passage, those who wished to gain his favor would follow in his footsteps, discovering these things both in the world around them, and deep within themselves.

Default Re: Event created lore - pre-event - Epic Spell: Burning Embers

Centuries ago, there lived a most powerful Elemental Archer. He discovered a way to channel the forces of flame into his attacks in a much more powerful way than had ever been seen before. He used this power to smite all of his enemies, but the power changed him. After all his enemies had been destroyed, he looked for more. Before long, he became so enamored of his power that anyone who so much as disagreed with him would throw him into a rage. Anyone who crossed him was made to suffer. He became a nearly unstoppable force; smiting all who opposed him, but great power often comes with a great cost and eventually he was consumed by it and never seen again. Now, there are rumors that the power has been rediscovered?

The Empire, consulting with the Dryads, has begun a program to increase the forests in Istaria. A new forest has been grown on the northern half of Lesser Aradoth, while the jungle has expanded significantly on the southern half. This has resulted in an increase in creatures returning to the lands. The Withered Aegis' forces have been driven from the Isle of the Drowned, but have blighted new portions of Lesser Aradoth. The Gifted are again called to war.

As the Dryads continue their efforts with the Empire to renovate Istaria, rumors are beginning to spread of a Dryad who may be undermining their efforts. Citizens claim she is either working for the Withered Aegis, or has been corrupted by the very powers of Blight she originally swore to fight against. The tension has only increased since she has claimed to have tapped into a source of power that she believes may lead to a powerful piece of long lost knowledge.

Dark spirits fester in the shadows, plotting the destruction of the Prime. Drulkar's champions stand firm and courageous, gathered to face the coming tide. The Gate of Embers lies open; the children of the First Dragon have entered the Rift. The Sleeper has awakened, his words dark and foreboding, a warning and a call for help. All Istaria waits in breathless anticipation, as the dragons march forth to battle.

The Fall Harvest is once again upon us! The people of Istaria gather at the newly built Festival-grounds outside of Dalimond to celebrate a year of relative peace and prosperity. Enjoy the food, masks, candy, costumes and even a few new items to build on your plot of land. Do some trick-or-treating and maybe even take in a ghost story or two... but beware of spooky monsters that may be out to get you!
