    Default Today's small patch.

Please click 'more' to see the most recent updates applied to live.

Patch Notes The following updates were applied on 5 April 2005:

    Fixes:

When contributing resources to a structure (constructing), others will see the proper animation and type of material being contributed above the contributer's head.

When crafting items, others will see the proper animation as well as the item being crafted pop up above the crafter's head.

Fixed an issue where deconstructing blighted items would seem to give you zero cores when you actually should receive 1.

Fixed a bug where equipping items from your inventory would sometimes incorrectly think it was accessing a structure.

Fixed a bug where item details were sometimes not showing up completely.

    Additions:

Added the /random command so players can roll server generated random numbers ? useful for determining loot assignments, etc
    .

    Stealth improvements!!! OMGOMGOMG [:)]

More seriously, this struck me as a very tidy little patch, and as another welcome set of modest changes and bug fixes.

WOOOT!! I put that suggestion in... I don't even remember how long now, one of the first days Horizons went live (well, and in beta too), nice to see they have it in finally :) That will make certain things a bit easier now :)

    Very cute patch!

Even a random command like in WoW.

Now, we just need the same loot system [:P]

    Free for all
    Turns

    Etc...

A tiny bit at a time the game's becoming decent...
Vahrokh Vain - Ancient dragon level 100 adv 100 craft 34M of untainted, fireworks and other crap free hoard.
Isarion - Reaver Healer Spiritist, many craft classes.

Yep, yep! I have always maintained that Horizons has the best potential of any game out :) And I have definitely been having a blast these past few weeks since my return!

What exactly does the /random command do?

  6. #6

    Default Re: Today's small patch.

it generates a random number and then prints that into your main tab (feedback).

the purpose of this? I have no freaking idea, but i'd rather have no /random command and be able to loot mobs and have the corpses vanish and the corpses i have not looted, stay until i can get around to looting them....

oh...and fix the atrocious combat lag that has now developed, i wonder if it's because 473874982743723432 players are all trying out the new /random command and it's utilizing resources to generate these numbers.

I guess the /random is usefull for those who group hunt and cann't agree on loot turns in advance.

For what it's worth, GM was in the game tonight and announced that the new "mobs not vanishing immediately after looting" was intentional and for a reason.

Said reason was not mentioned, however.

It does not seem to affect the spawn rate by any means, just makes looting a bit of a pain. I'm eager to hear the reasoning.

Good to see the fixes though.

uh...you mean like everyone picks a number between 1 and 100 and then whoever is closest to the /random gets it?

I always thought looting in this game pretty fair, we are a small enough community where most chars know each other, I've heard of few loot hogs or whatever.

no, you all type /random 100 and then the server gives you a random numers between 0 and 100.
Whoever has the highest number (rolled the highest dice) gets to loot the mob (or gets the good item, or whatever you make up)

Not true. Sometimes it is nice to let the dice decide who gets an item when A) nobody can use it and all will just sell it or B) more than 1 person can use it.

Also .. can you PLEASE shorten your picture ? It causes me to have to scroll to the right to read all your message when you post more than a short sentence.

Oh dear, I just remembered a little problem with /random.

In wow this has lead to the forming of unwanted "casino's".
Many used it to scam (taking cash on wins but refusing to pay themselves if they did loose in the end)
It escelated to such a point that Blizzard had to take a stand against it.
People running casino's now get banned for a day or so.

It happened in 1 mmo allready, no reason (aside from the solid community) it shouldnt happen to HZ,

Devs, see if you can nip this in the bud please.

My guess id it has to do with the group /random dice roll for who gets what thing.

All well and good for the group hunters. Puts the screws to us solo hunters tho. We have to wait to loot certain corpses because they are covered up by looted corpses. We wait till looted one fades and hope the one(s) underneatrh stick around long enuf to loot. All the while new mobs are spawning, attacking, killing and being killed. Am I to surmise that 'forced grouping' will be the only solution for a solo hunter? Or taking on smaller numbers in more out of the way locations? or just accept a 2nd class existance because I prefer to hunt alone?

if this is the case, someone in the know needs to say something now. Then I can cancel my account without further expense. Somehow I can't help but believe I will be the only player saying Sayonara over this :(

Worst still, I dont want to quit. However, I dont craft and that leaves hunting. I enjoy the hunt, enjoy testing my limits, enjoy the loot I am lucky enuf to find, and really enjoy giving away said loot to guildmates. it appears the fun I have had in past is in serious jeopardy of coming to an end :( I truely hope this isn't the case but....

    * looks around with shifty eyes *

Not sure if people have thought of this, but I use the setscale script to "shrink" any mob that I have looted.

So I double click to loot. Loot. then hit my setscale button to shrink the mob down to 0.1 scale. :) No worries. When killing golems that I don't plan on mining I use this to get the looted ones out of the way!

Quitting over corpses that take a few more second to disappear? Now I've heard it all. At least until the next silly reason someome comes up with.

Most MMO players want corpses to stay around longer, so they don't have to worry about looting right away. I think this says a lot about how ridiculously easy it is for multiclassed toons to solo ... but that's anothe rant altogther.

Yes but there is a huge problem with this (which is evident in resource critters like treants and golems); what happens when you firebomb a group of them and they all fall into a pile on top of each other? I was having a terrible time with the dire wolves the other day because I couldn't get to the ones on the bottom and I had to check them all twice. I am sure I still missed some loot.

    Try set scale.

Set the scale of looted mobs to 0.1. This way the "itty bitty guys" were already looted!

You can loot anything/everything and if it is small it is looted!

That is how I do it.

Use the /setscale trick. Select a mob, loot it, have a hotbar macro to scale it down to 0 or whatever the lowest is. You can sort through a large group very quickly like that. Select, Loot, zoom down, repeat.
