A question to the dev team about Unity transfer window.
Once the Unity character transfers begin will there be a set time frame for ex Unity players to request a transfer or will the option for Unity character transfer remain open letting ex Unity players who may be away from the game say for a couple of months to six months or longer. Will they be able to request their Unity characters to be transferred upon returning or will this transfer only be in a set time frame, and will any Unity player that misses this window loose their characters that were on Unity forever?
Spring is here and summer is not to far off, and like a lot of MMO players in the world it's time to start spending ones free time doing real life things rather than sitting in front a Pc impacting ones health mentally and physically after a long dark winter of being indoors most of the time. I'm one such player whose hung up his MMO cap for this season and will not be returning to MMO gaming until late fall this year. I'll most likely be trying out Aion when I first return to MMO gaming for the winter which will delay my return to Horizons further. Will players like me get our characters back?
Re: A question to the dev team about Unity transfer window.
looks like that no dev will answer direct questions :D
Re: A question to the dev team about Unity transfer window.
Of course, another way of looking at this could be to say that you will get your questions answered when we have the answers.
Taken right from the Unity Transfer page on the community site:

Final details of the program will be posted shortly and an invite email will also be sent out.

Re: A question to the dev team about Unity transfer window.
^^ yes but its funny to see this post since March 20th, 2008 07:15 AM unanswered ^^
i felt that this thread should get some replies too (or should get closed :-) )
there are so many discussions out there (about unity) and the direct questions looks like if they are too boring to get answered :-)

If the final details haven't been decided yet how are they supposed to answer.
Re: A question to the dev team about Unity transfer window.
have you read the question of this topic?
i think its not a top secret info or something about final details

Yes i have read your question and I have also read the information provided
which is what according to my knowledge, have been decided so far.
The people at Virt that have to do with the Unity transfer are fully aware off that we wants as much information as possible, and I am pretty sure they will update the information as soon as they have any news.
After all we are talking about future paying customers and the management at Virt are not stupid people.
So either there are no news or they have decided not to tell us but why shouldn't they I cant see any reason can you ?
Re: A question to the dev team about Unity transfer window.
the question in this topic is (if i read correct ^^)
When the transfer will happen, will this only be one and unique Chance to get transfered or can you save your char in some month too?
and my personal view is that every question deserves an answer :-) and i think this is a new question never asked before?
even a: we dont know is a good answer :-)
Re: A question to the dev team about Unity transfer window.
let me try it this way:
If your company develops something, and it`s about 100 different probs,
they/you have to work on- in team or done by specialists. And you have a deadline.
Then a customer wishes to be informed detailed about project 1.1.2.2.3a-
would you provide manpower and costs to answer this special question?
Particulary when the complete official version is nearly done?
Re: A question to the dev team about Unity transfer window.
i dont understand your comparison :-)
they dont need manpower to answer this question with: sorry customer, we dont know if we allow the transfer after the initial one ^^
and i would love to get feedback even if they are about problems they encountered while the process :-)
Re: A question to the dev team about Unity transfer window.
Five less minutes spent typing "We don't know yet" is five more minutes spent working on the Unity transfer ;)
Re: A question to the dev team about Unity transfer window.
hehe thats correct
i wonder if im alone with my opinion ^^
i hate silence (from the dev side), but all seem to be happy and believe that things will go good ^^
maybe i should be more optimistic too :-) but the past showed that its not an easy task!
Re: A question to the dev team about Unity transfer window.
Maybe you could see it that way :
In the past, previous owners made a lot of promises that they didn't keep. People got upset of that and left. I think That Vi learned that lesson, and won't say anything until it's 100% sure it can be done.

Not saying anything can backfire too...
I think it would be far more (re-)assuring towards the people begging for news to let them know what is happening...(not necessarily in great detail, but in general..) than leaving them guessing, waiting without saying a word.
It is all taking a very long time.... and a lot of time between tiny scraps of "news".
Patience is running out and is (very) low (at least mine is). Don't know how much longer I am going to wait before I move on......

I don't get this, they just put the unity transfer message up
http://community.istaria.com/pg.php/unity_transfer
made a lovely story around it - although that I can't find anymore, where did it go?
So I really think the " It is all taking a very long time.... and a lot of time between tiny scraps of "news"."
is a bit weird now things are speeding up.
Re: A question to the dev team about Unity transfer window.
Sigi fantastic find... we're gonna live again!
Could be all the devs who actually know anything about the transfer are too busy working away; after all as you say this is going pretty fast the last couple of days. I don't receive emails for my old Unity account but it may say something in the email there? Or perhaps they're waiting to see how many transfer in the first place and then if there's only, say 5% of the accounts that don't reply they'll say it's a one-off thing, or if a higher proportion don't apply then they'll leave it open, who knows.
Could be that they're scared to say either way in case of putting people off (such as Greenclaw not wanting to come back right now, or by saying he can... then when he does attempt to in 6 months, finding it isn't possible).
News is always nice, but I'm used to other MMO (well game companies in general) not actually saying anything unless it's in a proper interview or patch notes. The only other forums I've ever known devs to grace with their presence are the Lionhead forums and the Sacred forums. So even just the Dev Diary each month seems a lot of news to me.

Re: A question to the dev team about Unity transfer window.
I sure would like to know the answer to this question too.
The answer to this question will be one of the deciding factors for me on if and when I come back to HZ.
Considering that I am no longer visiting this forum daily (close to just once a month these days) there is a hypothetical chance that I can miss any hypothetical deadline.
Hence my desire to know.
Re: A question to the dev team about Unity transfer window.
For now no "close" date has been set on the free transfers. We will do our best to notify people should that change.

great news for all who are not "available" atm
thanks for the good info!!
so if somebody is going to reactivate his account in for example 4 month he uses the same procedure like now to get his transfer?
