    *giggles* ugg..text adventures...

I remember playing a few, and then getting really fed up with the games because I would get to a point where I'd either be 1-hopelessly lost or 2-hopelessly trapped.

"You are in a dark room, there is a chest on the floor and a door to your west"

    >open chest

"you are not at the chest"

    >Walk to chest

    "that is not a command"

    >Forward, Forward

    "you are at the chest"

    >Open Chest

    "The chest is locked"

    >unlock chest

    "that is not a command"

    >Use Key

    "use key on what?"

    >Use key on chest

    "you cannot use that here"

    >Use sword on chest

    "You cannot use that here"

    >KICK THE #*#&@(#*&@ CHEST

    "You cannot kick that here"

    >#@*$&#*($#

    "That is not a command"

...that also happened when I stood in front of doors...

    "Open door"

    "You cannot open the door"

    "Use Key on Door"

    "You cannot use that here"

    >*#%&#(@)#

    "That is not a command"...

Never got far with those games....ROFL [:P]

    ahh, the memories...lol, Frith

used to have those books, where you turned to a certain page to decide your fate...which somehow, always seemed certain death, nothing a quick turn back to choose option 2, wouldn;t solve.

Had some unhealthy problems with it too... i never managed to get out of the first cave where you start due to a freakish invunerable bat, and some invunerable skeletons.

But one nice game is supercars 2, i never really liked cargames, but supercars and those micromachines where you could use weapons at each other was really fun..

Aplus to the bonusquestions you got after completing a race in supercars II, always as confusing and strange, where you alwaysguessed the answers due to the lack of yer English, or just due to the most oddest of questions..

Let me throw Wing Commander (my favorite FPS--in a sci-fi series) into the mix, along with M.U.L.E. from ye olde Commodore 64.

When playing Daggerfall, its absolutely mandatory to use the patch. Without the patch, you can forget about it. And yea, Arena 2: Daggerfall is a really nice one, especially the guild & ranking system. Not to forget stealing the shops empty at night[;)] And the game itself is so good, that rarely anyone bothers with finishing the main quests, as the game itself offers so many opportunities [:P]

For Amiga, Ambermoon (part 2 of the Amber series) was my favorite, and Nipponon the C64 (oh boy, anyone ever finished that? [:O])

I guess the original was a PC game from the '80s, so it may well fit in here as an "old" game.

Heh, I played that for a while too, great fun! Also an early pc game I played that was really simple was Chip's Challenge. simple but quite challenging and addictive.

I also remember Jet Set Willy from the Speccy, the first platform type game I ever played. Also very addictive.

I only ever played one text based adventure. That was also on the Speccy and quite time consuming. Can't remember the name of it now, but whenever I got frustrated and swore at it, I would be put into the 'swear box', which was actually being put back to the beginning of the game lol. Even more frustrating than 'that is not a recognised command LOL.

Another one for the Speccy I had a lot of fun with back then was 'How to be a complete and utter bastard'. YOu were at a party and had to behave like the worst guest ever. The more horrible you were the more points you got. Things like going to the toilet and using the sink instead of the loo, eating and drinking too much and throwing up on people's coats in the bedroom. If you got completely drunk everything went strange and you lost the power to move properly. Ah the good old days ;)
