Darkstaff's fate?

What has become of the famed sage, Darkstaff? I recall mention of him being captured, but is it known whether he is still alive, or not?

I do believe that darkstaff is a spectre of the past if i remember correctly the "darkstaff" character was actually a player that due to some issues was removed from the game. It seems that they have in the last year gone a long ways to slowly and quitely removing all traces of darkstaff from the game . you draw your own conclusion

From what i have found out form the gregory quest the archmage darkstaff has been captured by the lich king and held prisoner thats the limit of my knowledge maybe one day most of us will know wot darkstaff is all about
