What is your computer doing during that minute or so while HZ is unresponsive? I know, that's a big question. Let me narrow it down some:

Is the hard disk grinding away, is it silent, or is it clicking?

Does the mouse pointer respond instantly, does it lag behind, or is it non-responsive to movement?

What happens if you hit ctrl-alt-del? Do you get the task manager or lock workstation menu instantly?

Hard drive is silent, mouse is unaffected (very responsive) and hitting control-alt-delete doesn't bring up the task manager until the game has started working again.

Whoops. Sorry about the delay. I'm not sure whats going on there. I know I can cause similar behavior by resizing the HZ window when its in windowed mode (as opposed to full screen), although, that doesn't happen otherwise.

Is there anything interesting in your event logs? (windows event log, not Horizons logs)

I really wouldn't even know where to begin to look there

The good news is that these freezes have dropped in both frequency and length, though.
