Thread: Certificate expired?

    Default Certificate expired?

Help? I get this when I try to log in through the web.

There is a problem with this website's security certificate.

I got the same error. Had to log on using the Stand alone Launcher. I will try the Clear Cache later.

Can you provide a URL that generates this error? There are multiple pages and hostnames involved when "logging in through the web".

The certificate for play.istaria.com expires on 5/27/2009.

    https://horizons.istaria.com

It's odd though, when everything changed to play.istaria, my weblogin icon always went to play.istaria.

Not sure why it's not doing it anymore.

And when I click the link to go to that website anyway, it goes to play.istaria.com.

Ah. Yeah, thanks. Looks like the SSL certificate for horizons.istaria.com expired today.

Nothing is broken on your end and you should do nothing, except switch to using https://play.istaria.com. Your browser is doing exactly what it's supposed to do. Don't mess with your SSL certificate cache, browser security settings, certificate authority trust chain, world cache, patcher, firewall settings, antivirus settings, spyware scanner settings, bios settings, display settings, setting settings, dinner table settings, alarm clock settings, or setter settings.

While some may make the warning go away, they will also leave you vulnerable to 'man in the middle' attacks that allow a 3rd party to intercept your 'secure' communication.

That is the one that goes automatically on the desktop when you install the game. It never patched to a new one.

    HUH? No worries there.

Ah, you'll need to right click that link on your desktop and edit it yourself. (It's a url shortcut.) The patcher wont touch it since it lives outside of the horizons directory. (and the patcher better not ever try to patch files outside of that directory)

Important yes, top priority? Probably not. The URL http(s)://horizons.istaria.com is being phased out anyway.

Switch to play.istaria.com and everything should work.

Steelclaw is correct. The certificate for horizons.istaria.com expired. We are currently deciding whether to certify it again and leave a permanent redirect as before.

Please use play.istaria.com for access. There should be no problems with starting from there (and Internet Explorer is still the only compatible web browser).
