forum signature just got limited?

I have been putting dragon cave eggs in my signature; the number was limited to something like 10. I tried putting one more in tonight as I typically have done, and got this error message:

1. You have included 5 images in your message. You are limited to using 1 images so please go back and correct the problem and then continue again.
   
   Images include use of smilies, the BB code [img] tag and HTML <img> tags. The use of these is all subject to them being enabled by the administrator.

When was this changed, and why? Can we have more than 1 please??

I get the same message and I just put a green hatchling in not a few hours ago.

Meh. :/ And here I just commissioned another sig like the one I currently have. Guess I'll have to make it all one image or something.

There was an update to the forums that was needed to attempt to prevent people from using a "hack tool" that would report back to the poster their ISP information. In applying that update, this apparently was also changed. I'll look into if it's possible to change that without having to undo the necessary part of the change.

I was wondering about those sigs... good luck fixing the max image link bit! I know it's only relevant to the dragon egg-y people, but it's nice to leave them their game.

eh - seeing as how several times over the last few years I was Pmed to change my image size as it was somehow over the size limit (like...on a little bit..); and now in the last few months I'm seeing sigs that are WAY over the limit and off-putting forums posts - yet they are receiving apparently no instructions as I did...

And I'm not speaking of the little dragon eggs - as long as your sig doesn't exceed the size limits placed on my sig - with or without the eggs - you can put 100 little pics in there for all I care. Its when people's sigs get clearly bigger than the "allowed" limit that I get a little irked. And only because I worked hours on my sigs once upon a time and told to make them even smaller, which I felt really limited what I could do (and what others could see) - only to see others go "unwarned"...

Shouldn't be able to use eggs under your "sig" to get outside of what the "box size" should be - or anything else.

Guess what - if your sig is much taller than mine (not long, tall), then its probably too big for what's allowed!

Interesting on the fix though, I know of only one sig on the forum that did that - lol. Interestingly enough I only saw it here and not on any of my other forums (the little hack thing saying your ISP).

More importantly, are we putting folks at risk by putting multiple images in our messages since we cannot put them in our signatures?

it was not only Isp awdz it was also your IP address it was able to collect the information and send it back to the main server i am glad they got rid of throws hack tools caus it could have posed a threat to the game community . but yes i hope to see new colorful eggs hear again soon

Does having your IP address mean they can easily target you for reading all your files or for taking over your computer? Or that they can electronically pose as you while doing underhanded things? Is it the electronic equivalent of having your street address or of having your wallet (passport & credit cards)?

That "hack tool was just a mirror, it shows you what the site sees you every site you go to see all of you info such as IP adress ISP and everything else the signatures were not a hack tool, it was simply showing you your own info that the site itself sees, this caused way more drama than was expected. this is a post from that site:Whenever anyone visits a website, that website identifies the visitor's Internet connection by a code known as an IP address. Every computer has a unique IP address. What most people don't know is that the IP address itself contains all sorts of information about the visitor such as the physical location of that person's Internet provider (which is usually the same city as the visitor).

The cool thing about this graphic is that when people see it, they think their private information (like their city or IP address) is being publicly shown on your Myspace background, layout, blog, or forum, and they think that other people can see their private info! Their first thought is, "hey, how did my IP address get on this website?!", or "why is this website telling people where I live?!" In reality, they are the only one that can see their private info, because the graphic is created in real-time for each person who sees is. When you see the graphic, you will see your IP. When others see the graphic, they will see their IP.))

I actually alredy knew that when I saw the little display of my IP address (both what it means as an IP address and that the graphic was reflecting it back to me and noone else)

Because its just like the old "trick" we could use on the "original" style of forums - the old BBS style. There was some script or little program bit you could put in your 'post' you made that would show the person reading it THEIR OWN home phone NUMBER (the one they registered with on the site login). But people who were newbs were thinking that person ABC just posted their home phone number for everyone on the site to see.

So they'd usually rant and scream and yell and get pissed off. And then everyone else would laugh and laugh and basically say "you got pranked..ha ha..welcome to the forums"... And then explain it.

And then a few months later when another newbie fell for it, they got to laugh at them and go "yea I did that too..." lol
