Ms Peaches,

Since you've made it a point to reinterate the rules here I'd really like to see the approved definitions for several things contained therein

'No cussing, swearing, slander, spamming, pornography, racism or sexism'

please provide the approved definitions of slander and spamming.

'No personal attacks are allowed. This includes everyone from attacking other players to the devs. Use of derogatory words will get you moderated in quick order. Repeated attacks will get you banned.'

Please provide the approved definition of 'attacking', 'derogatory' and 'repeated'.

I personally ask these so that I may comply fully and completely with the letter of the rules and their intent. Thank you very much in advance for your attention to these details. I look forward to being a very productive contributor to these forums.

Mods: if you find this post offensive in any form please advise me so that I may correct the wording to your liking, Thank you.

Hmmm...you know what the words mean, and you know that no definition will be foolproof. You're heading somewhere legalistic, wonder where?

I'm not sure, if I were Peaches, that I would bite on that one. Perhaps some very general self-obvious definitions with the remonstrance that 1)if you think you might be doing it, you probably are. 2) If someone else tells you you're doing it, please be considerate or bring it to a mod for adjudication.

As is obvious, such definitions are inherently subjective, so I am glad that I am able to place my trust in a fine group of moderators.

not heading anywhere legalistic... I've had completely honest and factual threads completely deleted just because certain mods did not like the facts that were offered. And due to this 'revisit' of the rules I'm trying to get some honest clarification of said rules. Thats all, no more, no less.

I dont mean to tell you how to do your job or anything, but people are less likely to take the rules seriously if rule breakers are not dealt with.

I understand forums are supposed to be fun, hell i have more fun here than anyone!

But at the same time people are getting away with stuff they shouldnt and certain things seem to be getting ignored.

I mean no offence to anyone by this post, its just my opinion/outlook.

You do use the "Report" link in the lower-right corner of posts you find problematic in this regard, yes?

Its hard to be an eagle eye, so please do use the report a thread or post option and we can take care of an issue if we should miss it. Thanks

I can understand you feelings. I had a thread locked without obvious reason and without explianation. And since I was waiting for a reply in that thread, it will be difficult to get that reply.

Maybe any such actions ( threads locked or posts deleted) could be commented in some way so as to educate the community and help set some examples/guidelines as to what is acceptable and what is not.

Agreed...I've had some of my replies deleted w.o any so much as a pm or a reason why,.and my posts were not sexually, racially or otherwise insulting to anyone. Yes I have let someone know if I disagree with them but I thought freedom of speech was something we were allowed....hmmm..maybe not...I'd like to see a reply to Seranthors question so I too can know what exactly is outlined as 'not allowed" Otherwise some mods with an axe to grind against posters they personally don't like (letting personal feelings dictate their actions) might go around deleting and locking posts with the poster lost as to why said post was locked.

I don't think clarification by way of more refined definitions is going to help the issue being raised here. When one has one's posts deleted without explanation, then they should go to a mod (probably Dangit) privately for an explanation. If none is given or deemed inadequate - what then is the recourse? Does one post on a particular forum? Is there no recourse?

Let me interject here a second. First off, I think the rules are pretty clear. If you think they need further clarification, send me a pm with your suggestions on how you think they can be made clearer.

Secondly, Every post that has been deleted on these boards are saved and nothing has been purged. I just looked and there is just one post by Silvanathan Shadowbane that was deleted and that one was one was a response to a post by Philip that went against the forum rules by not being civil and attacking people. Its the only one that has been deleted from Silvanathan. If there are other posts that were deleted I would like to know about it cause its something I need to look into. But for me to track it down you need to provide me with the thread your post was in and the date of your post.

I keep a close eye on the moderators and so far there have been no incidents that they have acted in any way different from what I myself would have done.

If you feel they have acted against the rules. Be sure to send me a PM, I am more than willing to discuss the issues.

Here is the issue with the rating system. The rating system is community driven. its a voting system by the members for the members. Everyone gets a vote so how do we tell someone their vote is wrong?

The issue right now is that there is not a large number of votes to average out the ratings. So if someone is the first to vote it will skew the rating. As more people rate a post it will average out.

To be honest, while someone rating all posts of a certain subject really low maybe bad form its not against the rules. I would hope people use the system effectively, but for now, I would suggest that if you see a post with a rating lower than what you think it should be, give it a rating you think it should have.

I am not ignoring the issue, but right now just dont see an effective resolution with out taking away the ability of the system itself

I think posting a reason why a thread is locked isn't too much to ask. I used to mod another board and we always posted a reason when we locked a thread. Take the current exploit thread, I went to post on it and it's locked. I can't see that it violates any of the rules, and no-one has come right out and posted what the bug is (which would make no difference since everyone is talking about it openly in mp anyway), so why is it locked. Makes it hard to not do the wrong thing if you don't know what the wrong thing is.

Why is the Exploit thread locked ? I have carefully read and re read your rules and i cant figure out what the rule violation is.

This is significant exploit, it has to get exposed and fixed !!!
